| Matted thick coat?? My yorkie has such a thick coat, very much coat, and its gets matted very very easily. What is the best thing to do with that? what brushes work the best with his coat? what shampoo and conditioners and sprays would work good with his coat ? He does not have much coat now, he was shaved for christmas, but when he gets his coat again i want to take good care of it! I've been using the Pet Silk Rainforest products (rainforest shampoo, conditioner and the leave-in conditioner) I use steel comb and a pig hair brush (pinebrush), i also have a steel pinbrush but i dont know if its good for the coat or not! and i also have a slicker and few plastic combs.

| I like petsilk products. Another good thing to have is a dematting comb. Unfortunately I havent found any miracle products for a cotton coat. I use Minksheen shampoo and pantene conditioner and it has did the best for me so far. I keep my boy with the cotton coat trimmed in a puppy cut. I used to try to do the longer hair but it requires alot more grooming than im willing to do. I do keep a topknot on my girl even though her body hair is short the face is longer

| Ok, thanks for your answer What is minksheen? and what is dematting comb? never heard of these before I will not cut him short again for a while, Im going to let the coat be just normal at least until next chrismas, i dont like having him in puppycut, i like his coat better when its long I love wrapped yorkies, i will propably wrap his coat when it will be long enough (propably not until summer 2012), Doesnt the coat get less matted in wrapps? i heard that sometimes I have all the time in the world for his coat care Im willing to brush him twice a day if it would be what it takes to keep his coat good!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | my girl has a cotton coat too and honestly its a pain in the butt to keep long. I shave her very short when it starts to get warm and continue to do that throughout the summer. Then in september/october i start to let her grow out a little. I don't let her go longer then 2 inches most of the time in the winter. But 2 inches on her is 2 inches of poof, not 2 inches of hair that lays down flat like it should. I have to comb her every day when its this length or longer or she WILL mat. its hard work keeping a cotton coat long. I have not found that miracle product that does wonders on her coat, and believe me, i've tried many. right now i'm using Espree products on her Also i go through her entire body with both the #000 and #006 CC buttercombs (Combs & Handles) depending on the length of her hair. I also use a pin brush (metal or wood) from here Pin Brushes . Never brush or comb a dry coat. use a leave in conditioner/detangling spray like CC Ice on Ice to protect the coat from damage. Here is Morgan right now. Her body is about 1in long and her legs are 2 1/2 in long. She is being kept in a modified schnauzer clip

| Awww, cute yorkie girl you have ! I dont know if his coat is cottony or not He is very very thick (unusual for a yorkie here in iceland), the thickest coat of all the yorkies in Iceland (I've been told so from the breeders here). I'm gonna show him in a breed speciality propably next summer and i want his coat long Here is a picture of him when he had a little bit of coat, do you think its cottony or just thick silky coat ? http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._3213896_n.jpg Lol, i was making him stand like a german sheperd http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4423555_n.jpg I don't want to cut him short again he has a weight proplem and if he's short cut then people see so well how fat he is, he is on obesity food though. Does yorkie coat matt less if it is wrapped ??? Like people do with show yorkies.
