I Love Thor Donating Member | Hi I see you are new here. (did I miss your 'official' introduction post here?) ANyways, welcome to YT!! Is rattan that plastic material? I prefer the wire, or metal cages because they can see what happening and its more open. But I think it is all a matter of opinion. My wire one has worked well for Thor and I. Good luck! Hannah |

| I went with the wire. Winston is a chewer... rattan is too dangerous. He'd chew his way out in time. |

| yeah i'd go with the wire. maxi chews EVERYTHING she possibly can. she never used to chew my furniture when i first got her, but as she gradually realizes that she can, she does.

| I vote for WIRE.. Most people and breeders I have spoken to say wire is best; anything else like wood or plastic, they will chew-up and eat and that is not good for your or your pup.

| Princess isn't in a crate, but Mandy is. We got her the wire crate. I love it! She has lots of room & can see everything from it. At night we put a blanket over the back it stays nice and warm in there.

| Xpen I always suggest the Xpen. You can actually make one for around $35. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy the white space saver closet shelving. I bought a 12 foot long panel that is 18 inches high. I had it cut into 3, 4 foot sections connect them with the zip ties and vioala. You can buy smaller panels to make a lid for the top. This is the less expensive way to safely confine your puppy while giving them room to potty, play, eat, and sleep. I lay a vinyl table cloth to prevent and leaks. Here's a pic of mine in my puppy room. Good luck! |

| Rattan holds odors and they'll chew on it - even the plastic type. I'd go wire. Longer lasting, easy to keep.

| We have a nice Rattan that we bought early on .... we only use it in our bedroom for a little "refreshment station" .... we keep a wee wee pad & fresh water! It matches our furniture and saves her trips up the hall to her x-pen at night! If we had to choose one of them ... X-pen, it would be! It's much more convenient .... easier to clean, roomier, etc.
