Here is something from a vet that contradicts the seizure threshold theory. They say at higher amounts it can lead to it and all heartworm preventatives are safe to use. Heartworm and Flea Control Medication

I know that is usually the case in these studies, that arguably the amount of a particular drug given is far more than the recommended amount.

With other alternatives out there, for me personally I can't see taking the risk, though. Interceptor is just as effective and I like the fact that there is a dose for a 10 pound and under dose.

I can agree with you on that I dont like the dosage size max on heartguard at all. I never paid attention to that before but plan to ask my vet about it since one of my dogs is only 6 lbs

I use Interceptor flavor tabs (but I don't have a Yorkie--yet--I have a shepherd).

I use interceptor and frontline plus for fleas, I dont have the choice not to use something because they are super bad here.

I'm for sure Iverhart Max is a great heartworm, hookworm, roundworm, and tapeworm.
Thanks! never hear of Interceptor, but I should look into Comfortis, now that we r in Orlando.

Avon Skin-so-Soft
 
Back in the late '80s (:eek: that's 20 years ago!), when I had a poodle-mix (who had terrible fleas where I lived at the time) I used Avon Skin-so-Soft bath oil before I gave her a shampoo. It killed the fleas completely in a few minutes while she was in the tub. Then I used a gentle non-toxic shampoo. I don't know about the formula Avon uses now, though, or if it would irritate the skin of a Yorkie.

I remember my mother putting that on me in the '70s & 80s to keep the mosquitoes away! :)

I sold Avon for a few years , never hear of putting some on the dog Lol ! , yes on my self .
I would think it would be to strong for the furbaby skin but we can found out, just call Avon and they should tell u what they think, or someone here has some at home and can find out what formula it has.

I'm in Orlando too and have been using revolution for 6 months now and no flea problem here.

Hi, thanks for the infor, we r between Orlando and IL, but love it here in Florida, I love to see the sun shine every morning.

Welcome! I have my Lexy, yorkie, 2yoa next week and 5.5lbs, and a black pug Piper, 2 on 9/11, 19lbs. They are the best of friends and sisters. Where in Orlando are you? I'm in s/e near the airport. I take my girls to Barber park on Gatlin off of 436. There is a great small breed section there.

We r by avalon park , we walk in the park there every morning , would love to meet, we r leaving town this week-end to go back to IL for at least until the end of Sept or first week in Oct. Let's keep in touch , I'll pm u with my phone # and e-mail address.
If you have time Avalon Park has lot of things going on you can take the little one's with u. This friday they will have movie under the stars July 31 at 8.00pm Just bring yr blanket or lawn chair and enjoy Free popcorn, local vendors and a different family movie each month. U can also go on line avalonpark.com . Avalon park is located in east Orlando, 5 miles south of the 408 Expway on Alafaya Trail.
When we get back we can meet by u or over here , I love to drive and the little one always drive with me to IL back to Orlando , If we don't fly, cause they also love to fly.
