Anyone using pedipaws? Are you using only that, or that and clippers, i would like to try using only pedipaws to avoid ever cutting my poor baby's quick...what would u suggest and do you think that would be a good thing to try out?

I used my brothers - it works well once you get the hang of it. Isabel always fights me when I do her nails; with this, she struggled a little on the first paw, then stayed still for the rest. You can still get the quick if you let it go too long, so you still have to be careful. I liked it and am going to get one for my 3 dogs.

I bought one and did exactly what the instructions said...get them used to the sound first and just hold it next to them so they can get used to it...Well...THAT didn't work! All I have to do is bring it out and they run! I use the old fashion nail cutters!

I was hoping to buy one but was hesitant because I've heard a lot of people say their dogs are terrified of the sound.

I'm buying one today. We'll see how it works. My Yorkie is the worst dog during nail clipping, and I've clipped dozens of dogs nails I pet sit for, as well as seen even the WORST dogs come into the vet (with a muzzle and need 3 people to hold down, I laugh since they are about the same as my dog). It's a good thing he is small otherwise he'd have to be sedated. He makes a high pitched screem constantly and I have to cover him with a towel, put my leg over his head and my other one on his back. Then I have to hold his stomach with my arm and his paw with my hand, and my free hand can cut his nails.

I tried filing and he still whined. The only thing he didn't mind was filing his nail on the sidewalk. It actually filed quite quickly too!!

We just had a discussion about them on another forum last week. Apparently BJ's Wholesale has them on sale for $9.99.

The reviews weren't good. I guess the noise scares a lot of dogs. Several people also commented that the seam on the grinder snags the nail.

If you could pick one up at BJ's for $9.99, it might be worth trying, though.

I did as the directions said, tried to get them used to it, but they hated it. Now I hate it. I just go to the vet to get the nails clipped, it saves me from the stress.

My Krystal hates it too. She just didn't like the sound or the actual grinding. But she does put up with the regular clippers. I play with her paws a lot so I guess that has helped.

I want to try it to see if it would work before buying it. Sadly none of my friends have it. One of these days I'll buy it and hope it isn't a complete waste. Forgot about it when I was at the store today.

My friend's YT can still not get over the sound the pedipaw makes. Whenever you turn it on around her, she runs out of the room.

In the grooming salon I work at we do not suggest buying the Pedi paws. Honestly you can go buy a dremel at Home Depot or Walmart and buy the sand paper attachments. It is a little more expensive at first but it last longer as you can recharge the batterys usually and it is not as loud. There have been a lot of people that have returned the pedi paws because they did not last(batterys wore out to fast) or because it tends to bounce on the nail and stresses the dog out more. It is usually louder then the dremels anyways. We use dremels in the salon and I love them. They are not as bulky. Hope it helps!

Ahhh YES ..the Pedipaw <Smirk> MY HUSBAND INSISTED we get this. I KNEW Pasquale would hate it. It takes 2 of us to "try" to do his nails...he then squirms til he can break free and runs away.

I just worry about using a dremel since the safety plastic isn't around it. My brother should have one so I'll give it a try.
