| Hair Bands I know Kingston is only a little over 12wks but I wanted to get some rubber bands b'c I could semi try and put his hair up around his eyes. What width do you use? I am looking on ebay for some cheap bows and also the bands. Ofcourse it is hard finding boyish bows and boy colors but I found a lot of 100 5/16 yellow bands that would be really cute on him but am unsure since this is all so new...I know by the fourth of July I am sure I will be able to put his hair in a band and I found some cute patriotic bows that are I think 5/8th...Please let me know, thank you 100 Rubber Bands Pet Hair Dog Grooming Bow 5/16" YELLOW - eBay (item 200345210804 end time Jun-21-09 23:56:21 PDT) |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The size grooming band is really a personal preference. Some find it easier to use the larger size....but the larger size means more loops when putting up their hair. You want to get some pet silk topknot gel too That controls the wispy hairs that are too short to stay put.

| Wow, what a good deal. Please let us know how the bands are if you decide to get 'em. The 3/8 are good to use for top knots & the smaller 1/4 are good to attach on bows. The 5/16 may be too big (IMO), but the orthodontic bands are quite strong and durable.

| I would stick with 1/4" bands at least while he is a puppy. He probably doesn't have enough hair for 5/16" bands yet and he won't want to sit still for you to wrap it around and around. Start with getting him used to a topknot with bands before you add a bow. 5/8" double loop bows are a good size for a 4-10 pound dog. A single loop is a good size for a 2-4 pound dog. |

| We got the double loop 5/8 bows from Ladymom. The ones for boys are adorable!

| When Gracie Ruth was younger I used these metal clips that I found at an earring boutique. They worked great and I didn't have to fight a puppy to sit still while putting them in. You just bend them a little and they pop open. G3 07-04-08.JPG It was an easy transistion once she got enough hair to the grooming bands, but for every day wear I use the tiny scrunchies. Sept 6.JPG Again, found at the earring boutiques, Target, Walmart, Dollar Store and some grocery stores.

| I can get a small topknot in Lucy's hair, although it makes her look like she has a 3rd ear on the top of her head! But then she will work her little paws up there and dig the band out with her nails. Since I've trimmed them, she hasn't been as successful, but she is quite determined! Oh, and she has the prettiest coloring when her hair is up; there are 2 little white streaks that go up just over her eyebrows and she looks so cute!!!
