OK I get it but still......seems like you would constantly having to be washing it, even pee will smell when it dries on the grid. Anyway, thanks for explaining.

I travel lots, so I love washable pee pads. Wherever we are at Mia can use the same pad. They fold up into a ziplock bag in between washings. A friend has one of the pee pee stations with fake grass. JMO they are smelly and more work.

Short of training your Yorkie to use the toilet no potty system is perfect. With pads (disposable or washable) you have to deal with them getting their paws wet and stinky. What to do with the pads between washing b/c they will stink or having to carry disposable pads to the outside trash so they don't stink up the house. Shredding the pad when your gone and so on.

Using a litter type box can get messy as many pups will play in the litter. They can also get very stinky if you don't clean the box consistantly. In my experience this got old really fast.

Ugodog and wizdog do need to be wiped down once a week, but you have no stinky feet, no shredding of the pad and once your Yorkie is trained to use it, you can just use newspaper instead of buying pads. And to answer the question about diarrhea, just remove the grate and hose off (personally haven't had this issue yet). For the most part we just wipe it down with a Lysol wipe once a week and we haven't noticed any lingering smell.

Outdoor training isn't much of a priority to us as we wouldn't let our baby out unsupervised anyway. If we are out walking and she happens to go potty thats fine and we encourage her to eliminate when we are outdoors, but I don't need her to insist on pottying outside as long as she uses her ugodog.

I'm in the process of training my Lily to both pee pee pads and outdoors. I've just moved the pee pee pad in front of the door and also one in the yard close to the back door. When I see her starting to circle I try to catch her and pick her up and put her outside. I give her special treats for going outside and no longer treat her for inside peepees. I have a special clicker that I use prior to praising her and giving her her treats.

While visiting out of town, there are disposable diapers you can get at Walmart.

I'm one of the founders of UGODOG, and I can tell you all that we designed it with what we perceived as the shortcomings of Wizdog in mind.

With respect to pee pads, anyone who is still using pee pads instead of UGODOG is basically spending an extra $400/year on a less convenient, less messy, and more environmentally damaging solution to the potty training problem.

One of our customers put up this video on Youtube, which shows one of his dogs using a UGODOG and the other using a pee pad, at the same time. Notice at the end when the dog using the pee pad steps right into his puddle and tracks it onto the hardwood floors.

BTW, we don't sell this color of UGODOG any longer. What we have now is a more neutral beige color scheme.

http://http://www.ugodog.net/news.html

If you want to see what UGODOG users have to say about UGODOG, we have a testimonials page with several dozen testimonials here: http://http://www.ugodog.net/testimonials.html.

Lilroxy pointed out that there are several options for indoor potty training for your Yorkies, and I agree with what she wrote. I hope you try UGODOG, but even if you don't, I wish you the best of luck with whatever you try for your Yorkies.

Nice to get input from one of the founders of UGODOG! I wish I had started with that -- it does look like it might be a cleaner way of handling the pads.

is there a way to re-train a dog that's been using pee pads for a long time to ugodog?

Yes, and we have a training tips page at UGODOG to help you train your dog to use UGODOG. Here it is: http://www.ugodog.net/puppytraining.html

Also, one of our more ambitious customers started a really cool blog about how he trained his little cutey (named Miat) to use UGODOG. He has a really ingenious method of switching Miat over from pee pads to UGODOG, and it worked really well for Miat. You can see his tips here at his website:
http://www.monkeeworks.com/articles/...art2/index.php

Read the section called "Switching Miat from Training Pads to the UGODOG Potty".

Anyway, I hope these tips will be helpful to you. Good luck!

Default Pee Pads to UGO

I switched one of my pups to the UGO by putting the pee pad in the UGO without the grates. Once she was used to stepping up. I put in only one side of the grate. After 2 weeks I put the other side in. She has been doing great ever since.
