| Nature's Miracle not good? OK, I just had our carpets professionally cleaned and the guy told me that nature's miracle and other products like that don't really work because it stays in the carpet and the urine is still there. I know they are supposed to change the enzymes of the urine. He told me to just clean it up with water until we can get it deep cleaned again. Part of me thinks it makes sense what he is saying, the other part of me wonders if he is just saying that because he wants to make money. Anyone heard of this? |

| I'm sure if you just start cleaning it up with water only, it won't be long till things really smell and you will definately need to get it cleaned again. Maybe call or email the Nature's Miracle company and ask them their opinion, and to email you their advice. This way you will have something to show the carpet cleaning person.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think the carpet guy is partially correct. I don't just spray on Nature's Miracle; I blot the urine spot, and spray with Natures Miracle, and blot again (by stepping on a towel) and spray again. After you blot most of the urine out, there is still protein in the in the urine that can't be touch by most cleaners. This protein is what causes the smell, and while other cleaners can mask the smell you need something that gets rid of the protein. That why the enzyme cleaners work; they contain a bacteria, that "eats" the protein. Urine is made of several things, but it is essentially sterile water that contains proteins, you get rid of the protein, and you are left with water. He may not be familiar with enzyme cleaners, and think that they are just another type of shampoo, many of which are worthless.

| I agree that it might not work as well since the solution does stay in the carpet but we always go over the stain an additional time with a steam cleaner the day afterward to make sure everything is out. Also, if you blot most of the urine out, soak, and then blot again, most of the urine should be removed from your carpet.

Natures Miracle and other enzyme cleaners "eat" the stains. That's why the directions tell you it can take up to a week to dry. I always follow up with my Spot Bot, but I always wait at least five days. | |

| We have the natures miracle for hard floors and I hate it. I really do not think it kills the smell enough to stop them from wanting to go there again. I read that using equal parts of vinegar and water when you clean up an area works the best. I actually mopped my whole floor this way and it seems to have done the trick. You can also use it on carpets but I have not had the need to try that yet.

| My own personal experience is that after wiping up what you can of the urine, you put straight vinegar on the spot. It smells like vinegar for a short time, but the urine smell is completely gone. The vinegar smell disappears as well. I used to use Nature's Miracle, but found it didn't work best for me. Good luck!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | While vinegar will neutralize smells, it doesn't get rid of the protein. I use a vinegar solution on my wood floors, because you can just wipe them dry, but on carpets, I've found Natures Miracle works best.

| Very good point! I guess I will use vinegar to neutralize the smell and Natures Miracle to get rid of the protein!
