Administrator | [YT News] Introducing YorkieTalk Chat As requested by several members, we now have live YorkieTalk chat. Just click the link below: http://www.yorkietalk.com/chat Click yes when it asks you if you want to run the Java program. It is safe. This should automatically let you onto #yorkietalk, which is our chat channel for YorkieTalk members. You need to be logged in to YorkieTalk to access our chat. jonesy, nfx, and wack are bots (robots), and they will most likely not respond if you message them or try to talk to them. *** Topic is http://www.YorkieTalk.com *** Channel mode is +stn The line right below the green text is your message entry box. After you type a message, hit Enter, and your message will be broadcast to the entire #yorkietalk chatroom. The right side of the chat window will show all the users in the chat room currently. To privately message someone, just type '/msg user Hello this is my message' without the ' and replace user with whomever you want to privately chat with. When you receive a private message, there will be a new box under private to the right of Status. For example, if jimmy messages you, click on the jimmy box to see their message. Reply using the same text box. This chat network has about 100,000 users online at any particular time, so your name MAY be taken already by another user. If that is the case, your username will show up as Guest_xxx where xxx is a number. A name such as jim or cathy will probably be taken, but you could be jim2005x or cathyCA2. So just follow the instructions below to change your nickname. To change your nickname, click on the box underneath Change nick to and type in your new nickname and press Enter. Please remember that even if there are people in the channel besides the above three bots, it does NOT mean they are there live in front of the computer. So please be patient, as our chat channel is new and may take some time to get some live chat going. It may be best to leave the chat going in its own window, then use other windows to browse YorkieTalk posts and pictures. For more advanced chat users that are perhaps already familiar with IRC and mIRC, we are on #yorkietalk on EFNet. Thanks to Aimee, we have a graphical look at what everything means in the chat window here. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/images/ytchat.jpg If this is not clear, we'll try to make a better guide, or just reply in the thread below: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5148 We have also written a guide on how to use mIRC to access YorkieTalk chat. Please see the thread below: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8227 Last edited by admin; 06-07-2005 at 03:47 PM. |
