| [News] Yorkie Gets Pacemaker You've no doubt heard about pacemakers extending the lives of people with heart problems. Well, that same technology is being applied to man's best friend. Sandy Rathbun introduces us to one such patient. He's a lucky boy. We're lucky too meet zack. Jan guy's battery operated dog. 6 weeks ago this 10 year old yorkie was dying. His heart was beating so slowly he could barely breathe. And his tongue was blue. It was down to so guy took zack to san diego where a veterinary cardiologist implanted a battery operated pacemaker. Like people have. To speed up his heart. The pacemaker is in his back right there. It's about the size of a silver dollar.> it was the second time guy saved zack's life. Was paralyzed from the shoulders down. He could not walk. And was at vet's clinic to be put to sleep instead guy added him to her family with 10 other rescued dogs. Zack's pacemaker cost about 3 thousand dollars. If you're wondering why guy would spend so much. He is a responsibility that i have when one of my babies is sick, money is just not an issue besides she says the payback is priceless. Unconditional love. http://wfmz.com/cgi-bin/tt.cgi?actio...&storyid=17446 |
