I don't know about NY, but in CA owners need to license their dogs. You want to make sure the dog is registered with your name only as the owner. Also, keep Vet records that list you as the owner, or ask your vet for copies. That will show your name, address, pet name, and pet description and can be used as proof if ever necessary.

I guess the bottom line is.... Don't mess with our dogs!!!

Its true. My husband left about 2 months ago - Thank goodness I had all the paperwork and vet records in my name. I told him not to even try - thank goodness he didn't!
(well, thats partly why he left, because he is a stinker who doesn't want any responsibility)

But - should I ever get married or live with someone again - there will be a pet prenup from H-LL and I will make sure it pertains to any future pets as well!
