| Urgent: Shaky Teeth??? Do any of your adult yorkies have shaky lower front teeth?? Or is it just mine? I have never experienced a 3 year old dog with shaky front lower teeth. I just noticed this 2 days ago, when I was examing his teeth. I gently pushed on his tiny lower front teeth and they were shaky! and very weakly attached to the gum! I am so afraid to give him any chews now. Can you guys please examine your adult yorkies front lower teeth and let me know if this is normal?? Do you think I should stop giving him chews? (I had been giving him Verbac Chlorohexatra Chews for cleaning his teeth b/c he gets build up very easily) Please help!

| It sounds like periodontal disease. You need to go to the vet. What about his back teeth? If his front teeth are looser than his back ones he will need them removed. I'm sorry. Ellie had to have nine teeth pulled in January because one of her front top teeth fell out then one of her bottom front teeth fell out. The ones around the holes were wiggly.

| Thanks Ellie. But why would he get periodontal disease? Only his lower front teeth are shaky. They are tiny. They never fell out, so I think they are baby teeth. I would Not want to pull them out though... b/c then he will be front teethless... Poor thing... What should I do?? I heard Yorkies have "soft teeth", does this mean having shaky tiny teeth?

| Most of the time , chewing is not enough to clean teeth . You should have him examine to be sure he don't have gingivitis . 3 years old is young for an adult dog to loose teeth . |

| They wouldn't be baby teeth unless he has two rows. I don't think that it is normal for them to shake. Eighty-five percent of dogs get periodontal disease by age three. If you aren't sure, they should be looked at just in case. If he does have a problem they will HAVE to be removed because he is at high risk of infection from his mouth going to his heart, lungs and kidneys. Ellie doesn't have front teeth and it doesn't phase her.
