| Milk thistle provides support for the liver. It can be purchased in pill form or liquid form at a health food store. It helps protect the liver from damage and helps any parts that are damaged. Where did they get the liver count number?? Not from bloodwork?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maya my Pom just had bloodwork done a few weeks ago due to her losing weight and having Cushings disease. Her liver test came back at close to 500 and that was way over what it should be. SO we had to stop her Cushings treatment and start her on prednisone and a antirejection medicine. I just took her in today for another blood test to see if the meds are helping. Maya is 10 1/2 years old. She had the liver biopsy, and stopped breathing from the little bit of anesthesia they gave her, because her liver values were so high. Thank god she was at a specialty hospital and the critical care doctor was able to bring her around. ANyway she was diagnosed from the biopsy as having inflammatory liver disease and chirrois. If the meds work we can reverse the problem if not then I just have to see how she goes. I would suggest your friend get further testing.

| Tahoe, my 15 year old, has suffered from pancreatitis for about 4 years. He's on Science Diet ID prescription food. About 2 1/2 years ago, while reviewing his xrays for something else, our vet found that he also has an enlarged liver and subsequent blood work showed high liver counts. To treat this, Tahoe has been taking the medication ursidiol since and seems to be doing wonderfully. Please discuss this option with your vet. If your friend chooses this option, they can get it in a chicken flavored liquid form, which is much easier to distribute than a pill. Tahoe laps it up like candy. It must be refrigerated, but comes in a 60 day supply if you ask for it. It costs about $45. ~ Kelly
