| My Punkn' Is Sick-wont or play Hello everyone my name is Chloe. I just joined today because my Punkn' is sick and I wanted to know if anyone knows what it could be or what we should do. He is extremely lethargic, he wont even play with his toy rat which is his most FAVORITE toy in the world. I even tried to give him a little bit of turkey (he is a food hound, he cries when its time for his food every day) he was on Kanine (sic) and I switched him to Science Diet because he liked it better. But today he wont eat at all, not turkey not even CHEESE let alone his actual food. He wont play and his ears are low. He is throwing up a lot. What could have caused this? I think he may have ate a crayon? Has anyone had their yorkie eat a crayon (i think so because I saw some purple crayon in his poop) and how did they act. If you dont think it is the crayon could it have been something else, he is so little and always picking up stuff from the floor. Anyway, I do have a Vet APPT tomorrow so please dont just tell me to go to the vet, I just want feedback from anyone who has went through this or knows what it may be or what I can do right now. My poor baby is so sick and he is usually so playful and wants to play fetch all day. Now he is just laying down, sleeping or just laying and wont move much. Usually lays in corners or dark places. I attached some before and after pics. The one wear he is laying on the floor was taken just a second a go, the other where he is wearing a green shirt is when he was well and happy. Thank you! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Poor Punkn! Well, the good news, if there is any, is that crayons aren't terribly toxic bc kids eat them all the time. It could be different for pups, but I can't imagine they'd be severly toxic unless they became stuck in their systems. You might try giving some Pepto to calm his tummy and give Pedialyte bc he's probably getting dehydrated quickly, which can be dangerous. Perhaps try giving him a bit of soda cracker as well. Just make sure he is getting water. How old is he and what is his weight?

| I'm sorry your little guy isn't feeling well. I would think if you call your Vet back and explain how concerned you are perhaps they can fit him in today.

| I would get your little guy to the vet asap. One morning I got up and Hallee was throwing up and lethargic. She would not do anything. I could have pushed her over with one finger. She would just sit and look at me. I called the vet and rushed her in. Of course this is 7am on Saturday. Good thing we did. She was hypoglycemic...she had to have IV put it. We could have lost her. I don't mean to scare you, but these are the same symptoms Hallee had.

Someone asked how big he was.. he is about 3 or 3.5 pounds but sturdy and almost a year old. He is usually very healthy and extremely playful. | |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | When did you switch him to the new food, recently? And did you just switch it all at once, or slowly introduce the new food? I ask because switching foods too quickly can lead to upset tummies.

| I forgot to add this...to get our babies to eat sometimes when they are sick..we add either carrot or greenbean baby food mixed with it or some cottage cheese. Sometimes just the baby food by itself. That might help. We have had to hand feed our little ones before. It takes time to hand feed, but we have to do what we have to do. Good luck! Will be hoping that everything is okay. I will be watching for post about the vet visit. If yours did not get enough nutra cal you may just have to smear it on the lips so hopefully will lick it off.

| It could be the food change, but I'm sure the vet will help you out.
