| How much Liquid Benedryl? I am kinda confused here. Roxy has really bad seasonal allergies. Last week was beyond horrible for her, the scratching was driving me insane, so I know my poor little girl didn't feel good. I called the Vet and made an appt. but in the meantime, they told me to feed her 1/2 of a children's chewable benedryl 2 times a day. So I went out to Walmart and bought them, they were grape flavored and 12.5 ml per pill. I had the Vet appt. the next day (I brought the box with me). He checked her over and said to continue to give her 1/2 pill now 3 times a day. And that I will have to do this until the season is over for her. (She has been eating them since last Tuesday night) Now I have reading on here to ONLY give the DYE FREE kind I am scared now....WHY only the Dye Free kind??? I mean it makes perfect sense and I am going to Walgreen's after work to go get it, but I am scared that the chewables are bad??? But then why would the Vet say ok?? Also how much do I give her? She is 5.3 lbs. and the Vet said 3x a day for the chewables (12.5 ml) = 6.25 ml each time (3x a day) Do, I just do the same with the liquid???? Please HELP ME |

| Oh wow! I have no idea. I am just bumping this and hopefully someone sees it who knows the answer. If your vet said to give it, then I would think it would be fine for now. I would question the dye though if this is long-term. Good luck. Poor baby!

I've never read that the dye was bad but I can see how it would be over the long term, HTH,

| Daisy has been licking her paws and I'm assuming its allergy realated. I called my vet and he said to give her 1/2 Childrens or 1/4 Adult Benadryl. I also got the Grape flavor but Im scared to give her anything so I give her 1/4 Childrens. He never mentioned anything about Dye-Free to me. I read about that on here as well. I only give it to her at night though while I'm home. I'm very paranoid to give her anything while I'm not going to be home. I would also like to see what people have to say.

| MY vet told us to give 1/2 ml per pound, but I would check with yours to see what they say.

| maybe it is just that the dye free is BETTER, not necissarily safer.. u know??? i give Layla 1 ml of children's liquid. It is 1 ml per 5 lbs of dog. I got an eye dropper from the pharmacy for free and it came with a 1ml line!! how perfect! but you might want tos tart with 1/2 ml and see if you can get away with giving less.. if not.. .just keep adding more until you get to 1 ml... every 4-6 hours... and it is totally normal to knock your pup out for the day! |

| They have us give 1/2 ml per pound. So our 6 lb girl gets 3ml three times a day or as needed.
