| Bordatella Question.. Avery went 2 weekends ago for her 2nd set of shots. so she will be due next weekend for her last set. Anyways.. We did NOT get the bordatella vaccination, as i heard on here it often times makes them sick. I have heard not to get it at all (but i want her to be protected), i have also heard to get it done at least a week after her other shots so if she gets sick or has a reaction you know what it is from. Does anyone have any info on this and if they can give me their advice? Avery is almost 3lbs (just to give you an estimate on her size-incase that has anything to do with it) Also.. i am going to be getting her microchipping done in the near future as well, any suggestions on when to do this?? seperate from her other shots, etc? (probabaly) THANKS!! <3

| My Jewels just had a slight reaction to the bordatello. She was okay the next day. She got it the same time as her other shots. Me personally I would not not get the bordatello shot even though Jewels had a reaction. My other yorkie didnt have a reaction. Are you getting your pup spayed? Thats when I did the microchipping

| Ask your Vet. if your dog really needs to get a bordatella shot or nose drops. The Vet. will be the one to know. I think it all depends on where all you take your dog. Like you do kennel, do you frequent dog parks, do you have a groomer and so on. I like getting the microchip when they go in for a spay so they don't have to feel it. The needle is quite large. |

| We haven't taken her to any parks or the groomers yet(since she hasnt had all her shots) We take her everywhere with us though(when we can) but she is in a carrrier or our arms. I would like to take her to the park, groomers, etc. on a regular basis. So that is why i would like to get the bordatella done. so the shot or the drops?? which one do you prefer-which one tends to be milder with no reactions(usually)?? should i go this weekend since she has her last set of shots next weekend??

| I would get the shot before I would get the nasal drops. I have heard on here of someones dog getting kennel cough after getting the nasal spray. That is worse than a reaction

| Folks who frequent dog parks are encouraged to get the bordatella. Mine have never had that shot because I don't take them to dog parks. We have play dates with 12 little doggies every two weeks and then we them other places, but not where there are lots of dogs that we are not sure about. I also do my own grooming. A lady who shows Yorkies said she use to work in a grooming shop and could tell about some horrible things she witnessed, and strongly suggests we groom our own dogs. Mine have never been groomed by anyone but me. Ask your Vet. what type he recommends. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i give the bordatella vaccine to my yorkie. I give her the nasal one and she didn't have a problem. I got this done when she went in for a distemper booster when she was a puppy. I would recommend getting it if, like others said, your yorkie is going to be going to the dog park/groomers/boarding facility.

| I get the shot because of groomers, and what they might pick up on walks. Never had a problem.

| I just finished up Kalina with her puppy shot and rabies. I took her in for the bordatella, but my Vet said she didn't think she needed it. She said there is always some risk and ultimately it's my decision but she thought that I should NOT get it. However, my breeder said that I should get it. I adopted a "wait and think about it" attitude. She was born April 1st. I am getting her microchipped when she is spayed and will have any teeth that need pulling (if any) done at that time too. Good luck.

| i am one of those that had a bad experience with the bordatella shot ... i actually totally blame the pple that we bought him from b/c it was the FIRST shot they gave him?!!!?!! and after that he got soooo sick. it was a horrible time. but i think my exp is very different from yours since yours had already had other shots.

| yeah.. i dont know what to do. i am torn. haha. i want to get it done because i want her to be protected, but i dont want her to get anything like a reaction or actually get kennel cough from the shot. i will more than likely be getting it done. She gets her last set of shots next weekend. should i do it before or after the last set?? and i also heard to get the rabies shot done the following week as well.. should i not get this done at the same time as her last set??

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | My vet does not recommend Lepto. Not sure if thats just for my area or everywhere. I also was told to get titers, most of these vacs are good for a lot longer than a year.

| Bortatello Vaccine My Breeder gave my little guy the Nasal Vaccine and he got Kennel Cough real bad, and had it over a month. My heart just broke because he was so sick. I heard that the Vaccine given as a shot is the best way to go, if you decide to get it. The Vet told me that there is a chance a puppy will come down with Kennel cough after the vaccine, I dont know about anyone else but my little guy came down with it and so did his sister from the litter. Sleep on it and then ask your vet what they reccommend. take care
