adiben, please join the liver shunt and mvd group on yahoo groups: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/L...d_MVD_Support/ There are many, many members on there that have been in this same situation before that will be able to offer help. Also, they have an amazing amount of information in their Files section. There are many liver shunt survivors and dogs with MVD. I'm sure you will be able to find an incredible amount of information on there.... Also, here is a link with some info on Struvite stones that may be helpful: http://www.b-naturals.com/Dec2002.php If you don't want to feed science diet, tell him/her that you would prefer Royal Canin SO13...This food is also specially formulated to dissolve struvite uroliths, and is very low in protein. It's still not a wonderful choice, as natural foods are more than definitely better, but like I said, if you join the liver shunt group, many of the members on there cook for their dogs and many have had or have problems with either struvite or some type of stones... |

My little guy was on Hills SD for a week when we first got him. He was on Nutro Max Puppy, but he wouldn't eat it for the first day or two....but would go to town on my friend's dog's food...which was the Hill SD. I have now switched him to Nutro Ultra for nutritional reasons. Right now I'm doing 1/2 Ultra, 1/2 Hills SD Small Bites.... Check out the Nutro Ultra and read labels! http://www.ultraholistic.com/index.html My little one loves it so far. Even better if I drizzle olive oil over his kibble... Has anyone else tried this? ♥ ang |
