| What to do.. WHAT TO DO?! CONFUSED NOW.. would LOVE your OPINIONS?! We FREE FEED Avery.. She is currently on Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul! (we have NO problems with it, she likes it & so do we! it is a high quality food & i really like the fact that they are still a small company & WON'T be selling at PETCO!) I was just looking into other options(to change it up some?!) ANYONE HAVE ANY TAKE ON THE WELLNESS LINE(now that they are expanding)?! & Now that they are going to be selling at Petco, IS ANYONE GOING TO SWITCH THEIR BABIES?! ANY SUGGESTIONS ON THE HIGH QUALITY KIBBLE YOU FEED.. (keep in mind we have Avery who is about 5.5lbs & are bringing home a SISTER who will be a Tiny one!)(so we will probably need a smaller kibble?!) like i said i have been looking into Wellness, but am kinda weary that they will be at petco.. **SOME OF MY OPTIONS i HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT.. *1* Continue to Free Feed with a High Quality Kibble.. and then give her some high quality canned food sometimes as well!(with kibble being her MAIN diet!) Which Canned food is BEST?(merricks, wellness, etc? ..i seem to hear great things about Merricks canned?) *2* Continue to Free Feed.. (but home cook for her sometimes .. as opposed to the canned food idea above?!) (OR a little of BOTH?!? KIBBLE... sometimes CANNED.. sometimes HOME COOK?!) *3* I REALLY like the idea of feeding RAW.. but free feeding Avie seems to work well for us.. so i would like to continue doing this-but.. People who feed RAW.. -CAN WE KEEP HER ON KIBBLE & JUST TRY RAW FEEDING A COUPLE DAYS A WEEK??? or WOULD THAT DEFEAT THE WHOLE PURPOSE?! or NOT BE GOOD ON HER TUMMY!? -WOULD A TINY ONE DO WELL FEEDING RAW?!? -I HAVE HEARD THAT PUPPIES AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE FED THIS?!?! ( i am still VERY new to the whole RAW thing!) im VERY confused on what to do now!! HELP!! SORRY for the LONG post.. i'm SURE i CONFUSED ALL OF YOU! but i would LOVE your input and your opinons!! THANK YOU!!!!!

| Canidae I had this similar problem. My dogs are so darn picky. I just switched them to this feed I saw it in another post...and they will not eat it quickly... but it is a good feed... good luck...hopefully someothers can give you some suggestions... I am back to square one myself...

| I started out my puppies with Innova EVO. It's a grain free and has pretty small kibbles. Then I was going to do like you mentioned...feed raw occasionally. After tasting the raw, they liked the raw better than the kibble. So I feed NV raw venison in the morning....kibble (Solid Gold, grain free) is down all day....and NV raw venison in the late afternoon. It seems like a perfect diet for my 6mo and 7mo old babies. I just recently found out that you can start infant puppies out on raw...that it's never too early. You just need to figure out how much according to your baby's weight. Good luck

| Yeah, I think according to NV you could feed the raw to puppies. I tried to feed my baby raw and she didnt like it. Right now she is on Natural Balance. We like it. But shes very picky and gets sick of food every few months. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmmm....well, comparing 1,2, & 3 above is really difficult because it's all apples and oranges. Honestly, there is really nothing wrong with doing ALL 3 either - variety is VERY good for dogs, just like for people. It can help prevent acquired allergies and keep them interested in their food. Both canned you mention are very good. Anytime you add canned - you're adding more moisture AND a more premium source of meat/protein as compared to kibble - so it's a good thing. Homecooking: can be a lot of work (what I found, anyway) - but very good for them as well. If you feed more than about 15-20% homecooked food, you'll need to start balancing the cal/phos ratio. But tossing in some homecooked meat a couple/few times a week would be great and probably pretty easy. Raw: I love raw. Yes you can still do kibble, yes w/ a tiny dog (Marcel is 3.4), yes w/ a puppy. And yes, raw is good even if you feed it a few times a week - it's just a darn good, natural source of protein and enzymes etcetera. So, anything you add here - on top of the kibble - would be a nice boost to her nutrition; so no matter which way you go here, you'll be doing something good.

i like the variety she will be getting.. the added moisture & premium meat! i have heard really good things about RAW, so i will have to look more into that as well-and try it out! Home Cooking full time isn't something i really want to commit to, like you said-it seems like lots of work(esp. when you get into the calorie counting factors, etc) So i think i will just add a little bit here and there for her! And of course.. cute lil Marcel glad to hear he does so well with the RAW! THANKS AGAIN CHICK..
