| Please help me feel better :( I may sound like a big baby about this, and I apologize. I'm just feeling a bit down and needed some support.. some of you may know that we found out about 2 weeks ago after doing a fecal testing that Luigi (he's 4 months now), had a parasite (hookworms). I gave him his 1st medication from the vet this past week and then we rechecked his stool again. Turns out he still has the parasites I read the chart and it's a very few amount (it said like 2-4 eggs seen on the slide), but I guess I was just expecting it to all be gone after his first medication. So, the vet gave me TWO more medications to give to Luigi this following week. She says that should wipe out the worms. Then, I have to recheck his stool 1 week POST medications, and hopefully they'll all be gone. The thing is, I had to cancel his next set of vaccinations cause they do not want to give him the shots until after he's done taking these meds (poor little guy's immune system may go down if we pump him full of stuff all in one week). SO, I have to wait like 2 weeks for that (and even then, we still gotta recheck his stool and make sure the worms are gone. Otherwise..more meds, which means more postponing for his vaccines). I feel bad for this cause the puppy needs his shots, and also, I was looking forward to taking him on walks..but I won't do that if he's still not up with his vaccines. ::sigh:: It just brings me down and I just want him to be okay already. He doesn't eat his own poop, I wash up as best I can in his entire pen with disinfectants and bleach and all that, I even took away his old toys that could've had eggs/larvae/whatever on them. He seems so perfectly fine, but these little buggers won't go away. I dont know what else to do. I just hope these meds work (on top of that, if you guys saw my "stool testing price" post...I pay $50 for each stool sample. Now I gotta make some phone calls and find some other place to do a cheaper testing to find out if he has worms after these meds, cause I can't be paying another $50 to my regular vet again to recheck his stool. That's a total of $150 for stool testing alone these past 3 weeks..not including the meds and checkups. BLAH) Any comfort to snap me out of my sadness would help. I know it may not be a big deal, but I guess I just feel drained from running to the vet all the time to give fecal samples, and paying up for med after med, and making phone calls. I want to do it so my puppy can be healthy and happy, but of course, it just gets draining at times. I love my puppy and just want him ok. Sorry for the rant, just thought I'd express myself on here.

| worms I knwo you are frustrated...but fortunately worms are treatable and it is a fixable problem. You might want to speak to the vet about treating your yard to prevent reinfestation. Did your Yorkie have a stool check after leaving the breeders house..are you sure he did not come to you with worms..? |

| I know how bad you feel. They are our babies and we want them healthy. That seems an outrageous price for a fecal sample and I agree about checking on a cheaper price. Can you call around to different vets? Just hang in there and it will soon be over. Patty |

| You are doing such a good job with Luigi! He is very lucky to have you. Just hang in there for a little while longer. I know the price for the stool analysis is bringing you down as well. Hopefully this round of medication will finally get rid those hookworms and you'll be able to take him on his first walk. |

I live in an apartment as well, so he's never out and about in any yard or sidewalk (especially cause he doesnt have all his vaccines yet). I actually train him on the pee pads and disinfect everything after. Should I bathe him everyday? I know that can dry his coat out, but I dont know if I should be taking more precautions to get rid of the worms. Recently, I've just been wiping his little bum everyday, after every time he poops. The vet just told me, "Make sure he doesn't eat his own poop and clean up well." Anyway, thanks so much for the kind words and reassurances. I appreciate it a lot and feel a little better

| Oh, how I feel your pain Kalani brought giardia into my home and because it wasn't diagnosed for a while he passed it on to Hoku and it took weeks and weeks of meds to clear both of them up. I was so tired of the diarrhea, meds, bleaching everything in sight, and constant vet visits. Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing, you'll get rid of it and be able to get your baby's shots completed and breath a HUGE sigh of relief as I did

| Sorry you are having to go through this but you are doing the right thing & it will be over soon. Little Bit came with coccidiosis and it took several vet visits to get her over it but since then, not one problem with her health. Hang in there. It's worth it. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry I know how upsetting it is to have sick ones. Cali cost me over 7,000.00 the first 8 months I had her in vet bills and Maya has cost me 2,000 in the past 3 months and then my little Pixie got sick Tuesday and I freaked and the er bill was 360.00. Just in 3 days last week I spent 1060.00 between Maya and Pixie and Maya is still sick. It just breaks my heart when they are sick so I always take them in. It sounds like you are a great Mommy and you will be rewarded with years of love from your baby. Hope Luigi is feeling better soon and try and feel better yourself. It is part of dog ownership. Well worth the love we get in return.
