| I've never seen a flea in my home, so I don't see the use in doing the home. Thanks for all the other advice here! Greatly appreciated! |

| I'd seen on another threat about the Minksheen. I called, and they will be sending me a sample. I've never had a problem IN the home with fleas. And since both dogs walk out back, I'm so afraid of anything they could get poisoned by out back. Venus loves to eat grass, so I won't even put out weed killer in the back yard. |

| you cannot always see the fleas! they can lay dormant in your home for months without a meal and up to 7/8 months as unhatched eggs! they even hide in the cracks of wood floors. if you are going to take the time to treat the dogs, but not the house, you are missing a vital step. (imho) the places your dog spends the most time are the places you have to treat the most (best). bedding, nap times, or their fave place in the front room, etc. |

| I ended up taken Poli to Vet yesterday, they shaved his whole frontleg, because he gnawed himself raw, Vet thinks he is allergic to fleas, i have never seen a flea on him....started him on FL plus again a month ago (might of been too late, but like i said i check them all the time and never seen any) Reapplied again yesterday ! And i do bath with Minksheen, but now got to wait 2-3 days. He also got some Meds to put on his leg and was told to give him Benadryl. And if he does not quitt scratching and gnawing he has to wear a lampshade.

| yes my dermatologist for dd said the same thing - that is why with a flea allergic dog she wants frontline plus on every 3 weeks so as to be overly protected. The flea can still bite on frontline but it will not keep biting them over and over again keeping the allergic cycle going |

| aw! it's so sad when they itch so much. and the flea season can vary depending on where you live and the "seasons" that you have. i've read that they are worse after it rains. some other things i learned: fleas are attracted to light colors. if you have 2 dogs and one is black, the other white, the white will have more problems. vibrations help them "know" when to hatch. so if you vaccuum everyday after treating, you can help control the problem also. flea collars do more good in a vaccuum cleaner bag than on your animal. i do like some of the natural ideas above and may start using a citrusy scented vaccuum powder or carpet freshener. besides, it'll make my house smell clean! stupid fleas! |

| Flea collars do NOT work. Neither does Frontline or any other expensive chemically charged product on the market. To combat fleas, your animal must be healthy, eat real food and especially raw red meat, and either put an oil in their conditioner or buy the herbal flea and tick powder that's all natural. YOu can also use one of the oils (rosemary, pennyroyal or eucalyptus) to distilled water in a spray bottle. (20 drops to 16 oz. water. Make sure the shampoo contains d-limonene, a natural extract from citrus fruits that will kill fleas with minimal side effects and are suitable for use with dogs. Make sure your lawn is kept mowed and watered. Steam clean your carpets at the onset of flea season (or whenever you begin your fleas control program. Thoroughly vacuum and clean floors and furniture at least once a week to pick up flea eggs, larvae, and pupae. Launder your pet's bedding in hot, soapy water at least once a week. Add ample nutritional or brewer's yeast and garlic to the diet. Get carpets treated with a special anti-flea mineral salt. Once or twice a year, sprinkle natural, unrefined diatomaceous earth along walls, under furniture and in cracks and crevices that you cannot access with a vacuum. |

If you go to the FDA site and look up some of the side effects, it includes seizures and permanenet brain damage to some dogs. It's a small percentage so it's acceptable to the FDA but it's too much for me to take the chance.

Feeding them real food seems to help out as well. I think the awful things that dog food is made from causes their body to give off an odor that fleas like. I do this too except I put lavender oil & Cowboy Magic in a spray bottle and delute it with water. I spray my girls daily and brush it through. I hardly ever see a flea on them. Not a one would be sold! If you are useing only 20 drops of the oils to 16 oz. of water/conditioner, there won't be a problem with seizures. They are going by full strenght, and you NEVER put those oils ful strenght on an animal. |
