Help for a finicky eater!!!!! Hi everyone!! Well, I've posted before about Kobe's eating habits and I took the advice of free-feeding. But that doesnt really seem to be working either. After watching Animal Planet's "It's me or the dog" that featured a yorkie who was also a finicky eater, I began to worry again. Kobe is 7 Months and weighs about 2 1/2 lbs. I feed him Nutro Ultra for puppies, and he actually plays with his food. He grabs one kibble, runs, chews, then runs back to the bowl. Or sometimes he eats like FOUR kibbles and thats iy. I'm tired of seeing THE SAME food in his bowl the next morning after I feed him. Maybe I shouldnt compare, but my Aunts yorkie GOOBLES down food as soon as it is placed in font of her, while my Kobe stares at it. Any tips???

Do you feel that he is not getting enough to eat? Does he lack energy? Is he pooping every day? A 2 1/2 pound yorkie doesn't have a very bitg stomach, so I am guessing a few pieces of kibble fills him up. Do you ever give him canned food. Many people, including myself, give a spoonfull of canned food twice a day. also you can try cottage cheese or boiled egg, or yogurt or cooked chicken and rice. The rule in my house is, I don't care what you eat, but eat something. I think the bigger issue you make over it, the bigger the issue will become.

My Boyz! Have become very fussy eaters! I have tried scrambled egg, ground chicken, chicken breast, shrimp, meatballs, veggies, (which they did bite at the chicken breast last night w/ cooked broccoli, but not this morning!) bread w/ an egg mixed like a french toast dish, canned tuna, canned salmon blah blah blah, I am at my witts end, but I keep dry out all day and figure they will eat when they eat, but it makes me so nervous! Any ideas? PS cottage cheese, yogurt, ground oatmeal mixed w/ whatever! UGH! Last edited by yml; 06-19-2007 at 03:31 PM.

I would suggest buying Braunswieger and mixing a small slice of it after you heat it for a few seconds in with the food. Just take a fork and mush it in with the food. My picky dogs wont eat their food without it. They love it. It doesnt take much, just enough to flavor the food. Also one thing my dogs love is the Natural Balance food in the big sausage roll thing. It is like doggy crack. The cant get enough of it. I give it to them with their missing link and they are fighting over who gets the next bite of it.

Well, I honestly can't tell if he's getting enough to eat...but my Vet never says anything about him being underweight. And I have never fed him canned food before, esp. with the recalls that happened, but maybe I should try??? And he poops like a madman, so I guess everythings okay with that lol. And what is Braunswieger?? Sounds interesting...I may have to try it out. And yeah, I might be overreacting, but he cries when I eat like he's starving to death, so I guess Im just a worrywort.
