Winston needs thoughts and prayers!!! Winston is at the vets...again...for IGR test, insulin/glucose ratio, this test is to help determine whether or not he has an Insulinoma, a tumor of the pancreatic islet beta cells. The silence here at home today is deafening...he's been there for 4 hours, no phone call yet. The vet suspects that this is what has been causing him to have hypoglycemic reactions, which in turn causes him to have seizures. I am worried sick about him, but I do want to find out what is wrong...if the vet is right, I will be needing advise on where to take him for the best possible chance for treatment, surgical or medical. So I'm begging you all to take a minute and pray for my little guy, I've seen your prayers work before and I'm hoping they will work again for Winston's sake. Thank you all in advance, for your caring concern. I'll keep you up to date, when I know something more I'll be sure to let you know. YorkieTalk has been a true blessing to me, you have all been very kind and so helpful. I thank you, and Winston thanks you from the bottom of his sweet little heart. |
Prayers for Winston coming out from Utah:) |

Prayers from the whole family and a special lick over Winstons nose from Mitzi coming your way!!!!! |
Oh Kathy, I am sooooo sorry that you are having to go thru this and am praying hard for poor little Winston. It hurts so bad when our babies are sick. Remember God will gather you in His arms and hold you tight. Patty |
ooh the poor Baby, my thoughts and prayers are with him ! |
Praying for Winston. |
Bella Diggy and myself are praying!!! willyou have the results today or does it take a few days?? |
Winston is home...and hungry...I can not believe he has been there all day and they were not able to run the insulin levels because his sugar wouldn't go below 60. I'm getting frustrated, but he's happy to be home. They said it would be 1-4 days to get the bile acid test back that they did yesterday. But I'm pretty sure I'll be trying to find a specialist in my area...for a consultation...just to see what another vet might say is causing this. I'm not sure what kind of specialist, endocrinologist for the hypoglycemia or a neurologist for the seizures... I do want to take this time to thank everybody for the thoughts and prayers, but it's not over, as I still have no answers...Maybe I need you to pray that I find the right vet!!! I don't even know where to start looking. My groomer gave me a couple names and numbers for vets she has used in the past...she even told me I could tell them that she recommended them to me...I thought that was nice of her to offer help. I wish there was some type of university hospital close by, I may need to drive aways. We'll see...how the bile acid test comes back anyway. And I'll let you all know, as I know it. Thanks again!!! |
Kathy I will keep you in my prayers. Patty |
Oh gosh, I'm praying that you find the right vet who can diagnose Winston properly...And I'm praying that you're able to find the source of those seizures and that Winston gets better!! |
We will be praying for Winston. |
We are all praying for Winston and for you! Mitzi sends tiny Yorkie kisses.... :aimeeyork |
Any news on Winston?? |
Well girly...you my thoughts and prayers are with you....Seizures are the worst thing ever to see.....Remember what was meant to be will be...I just tell myself that whenever I get all worked up....Im sorry about the silence...if I was there Id make some noise for you....but I know there is nothing sweeter then little winstons pitter pattering feets! I am praying hard for you....Is the vet supposed to call tonight? I am sureit has already seemed like an eternity. Im sorry.:( |
Winston had another episode on Saturday...of course the vet was not in. I just gave him Nutrical...and he came out of it. I scheduled him an appointment for another opinion with the vet in Peoria that my groomer suggested, her first available opening was July 2nd...next Monday...so I took it. Will gather all the test results I have so far and see what she thinks. I'm praying for good news, nothing serious, I hope. My theory is...that about the same time period he started having this problem, he also became terrified of thunderstorms. He doesn't have seizures during the storm, but the last few have been the day after. During a storm he constantly paces, will not rest, pants heavily and shakes uncontrollably. Then the next day, even though he eats well, his sugar drops. Maybe he consumes so much energy during a storm that he can't keep his sugar up. Does this sound logical? I am hoping to find an answer to this mystery, and I pray it is not a tumor. So Winston says "thanks for the thoughts and prayers, maybe the new vet will find out why I'm sick". |
Oh, his bile acid test was: Pre 1.9 & Post 27.2 I think I've talked about this on another thread, sorry I forgot to mention it here. The vet said this was an insignificant finding, she consulted with her specialist as well, who agreed. I declined starting him on seizure medications, until I have a more definite diagnosis...lots of questions...not many answers. |
Reeses and I pray for Winston!:angelyork |

Mitzi is afraid of thunderstorm too and I close all windows, turn up the TV, hold her and sing to her and try to cover her ears.... It's too bad b/c I actually LOVE thunderstorms and enjoy to watch the show from our porch! Oh well, our baby is much more important...:aimeeyork |
