Saying a prayer for both Chloe and Angel! When I brought Kalani home he was pretty tired and out of it so I cuddled him a lot and was going to crate him at night but decided to keep him in bed with me like usual and he did just fine:) |

Thanks!!! I'm sure I won't be able to crate her. I may just have to camp out on the floor with ther bed right next to me (which she has never slept in ). |

Technically, there isn't vet staff overnight. Our vet also has a kennel and there is a technician who lives in the apartment above the clinic/kennel who does checks every couple of hours through the night. Angel has her bed, blanket and a chew toy (though I don't think she'll be chewing much) with her. I also took her yogurt and dinner and they are in their fridge. I also paid extra for a special IV to keep her well hydrated with added dextrose soe she won't get hypoglycemic while waiting for surgery. I'm still undecided if I'm going to see her this afternoon. When I did that with Sissy it was even harder to leave her............. |
Im praying for her. Hopefully the time will go quickly for you |

I asked about an IV during the surgery so she doesn't get dehydrated after reading someones story about how the tiny almost died after the surgery (Kalina82's Morgan, I think ), but the vet said they usually only do that for elderly dogs, so she's not getting it...I wanted her to, but I'll be with her 24/7 for the next few days so I'll be able to watch her & call in for an emergency if necessary. To be honest...I couldn't really afford it right now, either :(. |

Thanks! We dropped her off at 7:30...it's already almost 10, so it's going at an okay pace, I guess. I know it's going to get slower as it gets closer, though. |
 My cell just rang & scared the bejesus out of me. It was the vet. Chloe's okay, but they were just going to do bloodwork & I had asked the nurse to test for liver shunt, too (she said it would be okay) & the vet was explaining that it's not a good time when she's under the anesthetic. PHEW! She hasn't had the surgery yet... I was so scared to answer the phone. :( Why does that kind of stuff always happen at the WRONG time? |
I just called the vet's office - at exactly 1pm lol  - and Chloe's half-awake & doing well! The vet nurse said she just went back to check on her & she lifted her head a little bit. I'm SO relieved! She only had the 4 baby canines pulled, there were no others that stuck around. She said the surgery went really well. PHEW!!! Thanks for all the YT prayers :D Now, I have to figure out something to do for the next couple hours until I can pick her up at 4... Jodie - have you heard anything about Angel, yet? |
I just got the call from my vet about Angel. She is out of surgery and just coming out of the anesthesia. He said she did very well and also had just the 4 canines pulled. Phew, I'm glad that is done. I think I will go see her later and maybe take a strawberry or two with me!!!! She will be staying overnight, so I'm scheduled to pick her up tomorrow morning at 9:00am. I hope Chloe does really well with you this evening. Make sure they give you pain meds in case she needs them. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes!!! |

Thank goodness! Now I won't be worrying about either of them  :) They gave her an injection of Torbitrol (sp?) (a derivative of morphine if I understood correctly) and they're sending pills home. Thank God! I couldn't bear to see her in pain. Are strawberries okay for them? I've been trying to think of something I could take her for being such a good girl. I didn't want to give her anything too chewy because of the pulled teeth, but I think strawberries would be great! She's never had one before. |
oh don't worry, I am sure Chloe has the best VET to take care of her . . .she will be home in no time :) Please send her our warm kisses and hugs. |
The vet gave me some tins of Hill's Prescription Canine i/d in a recovery pack for Button, said it would be easy on his teeth & tummy, he loves it. He's also eaten some spaghetti & some little pieces of ripe pineapple. to be honest, his teeth don't seem to be bothering him much at all, he pinched Ellie's Gravy Biscuit! The problem is trying to keep him something like still  Thank you everyone for the kind wishes for his recovery :) |
glad to hear that everyone's out of surgery and doing fine. If the girls sleep with you tonight, just a suggestion, put an old towel under them incase they have some drainage or get sickies or just drool. I just got back from a 5 hr dr appt, blood work, eeg & cat scan of my head. Have to wash the stickies out of my hair. |

Pineapple is really acidic, be careful you don't give him too much - don't want his poor little tongue to get raw. I'll try some fruit or cheese or something. I think I'm going to stop at the store on the way & grab some strawberries for her. I'm afraid for her to be chewing too much :( I don't know if doggie mouths are like humans, but if anyone else has had a tooth pulled & then had a "dry socket" they'll understand the pain! I don't want that to happen to her (if it's possible for dogs, I'm sure it is though). She has a little bit of canned food left, about 2 Tbsp. Enough to last 2-3 normal days, but if she's eating less it may last a week. |

Thanks so much!!! That's a good idea about the towel...I wouldn't have thought of that. UGH! At the 5 hour doctors appt!!! I had to have an EEG & cat scan when I was about 15 because I started passing out & having seizures (never found out what it was, went away eventually) and I was so angry that they had to put that nasty crap all in my hair. Now I do it to other people  Hope all is well with you!!! |
