| Yorkie Appetite Help! My Yorkie is almost 8 months old and it seems he has lost his appetite. He's been eating the same food for a few months now and he's always had a more than healthy appetite. The palast few days he's just not eating properly. He will just look at his food, eat a little and then leave it. He's not even excited about the treats we give him, which he used to love. Does anyone have any advice? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Does he seem okay otherwise..or..? Dogs sometimes lose their appetite if they're sick. Is he drinking water? Any vomiting or diarrhea? If he's feeling okay, maybe he just needs some variety - throw some stuff in w/ his kibble, like cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, a bit of cereal, some chicken broth, boiled chicken, bit of hamburger or whatever. What kind of kibble are you feeding?

| Wylie's Mom Thanks, he seems fine otherwise... Still playing, drinking enough water, no vomiting... I will try to add to his food as you suggested and see if this works. We've been feeding him Eukanuba for a few months now and he used to love it. It's just weird that he also doesn't want to eat his treats anymore. |

| A Tablespoon or Two of Fat Free Cottage Cheese or a small piece of cooked chicken will usually stimulate an appetite, just like if you have a bite of something, it usually stimulates a human appetite. Occasionally one of my Yorkies will not eat for a day or so, he (unlike my female who is a free feeder and just picks a few bites off and on during the day) will eat twice a day, usually when my husband and I do. I know when there is a change in our home, or when we travel, he will take about 36 hours to chow...........go figure? The vet says don't worry, some furbabies just take a break from food occasionally.
