| Otis licking his paws and looking at his butt! I'm probably driving everyone nuts! I'm so confused. I'm trying to figure out if his paw licking and tail down and looking at his butt is related to his liver trouble, or something completely different. This is new behavior, just in the last couple of days.

| Paula...What's going on with Otis? What liver problem...is he on different food now? I just read today that when they look at their butts, it's usually gas...I didn't know that...maybe it's gas from the new food...or gas from the liver problem, and maybe his paw licking/chewing is from the food too...maybe an allergy to it. I'll go back and read more on that site, and let you know. Give Otis a big hug from me and Winston, and I'm thinking about you guys...Take care!!!

| Awww. thanks Kathy. Otis flunked his post bile acid level at 53. I don't really have the money for biopsy right now. I plan on having the C-protein blood test done in 2 or 3 weeks. I've been changing his food to L/D for the last 8 days. What website did you see the stuff about looking at his butt. I've searched and cannot find anything that lists butt stuff as a symptom. I think deep down I'm still trying to convince myself its something easy, like allergies, and not MVD. I did mow last night but he's been licking a few days. BUT, my grass was REALLY tall before I mowed, so it is a possibility it is irritating him. He's not seeing imaginary things like he was before, so thats good. I hope he's not allergic to the food. I'll just keep my eye on him. He got his first dose of lactulose tonight. So I guess I"ll know in a few days if the paw licking, tail down, 'butt looking' resolves, that they were liver issue's. Thanks for thinking of my little Otis. I took this pic 2 weeks ago when I took him to work with me(at a doctor's office) because I had started noticing the symptoms and wanted to keep my eye on him. I kept him in my office, although some patients couldn't resist coming down the hall to see him.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Well Diggy looks at his butt all the time.....He bites his tail and stares at it and rolls in a summersault instead of side to side. Its as if he is wondering what is that nubby thing stuck to my butt????? Maybe he is just playing and discovering tail.....Lets hope its not liver related....pm me when you can and let me know what you find out....If I know you ...your gonna be on here a couple more hours reading all the posts.... Good luck girly....my thoughts are with you!!!!

| He could also have a fungus. Charlie has chewed Malasebhis feet for years according to his past medical records. A test was done Saturday, and they found fungus. He is bathed twice a week with a fungus shampoo (Malaseb), the once a week. So sorry you received the test results. The test for fungus is nothing more than a swab between the toes, and then looked at under a microscope.
