| Need Advice - Yummy Chummies I have been reading about Yummy Chummies here on YT. So I decided to order some from www.sitstay.com (along with the I-Cube with TJ LOVES and a Hide-A-Bee for Roxy). Anyway, I ordered 3 kinds and I guess I didn't pay attention to the ingredients or I just looked at the Original and Crunchies and just figured the Salmon Jerkey was the same, I don't But, I really don't know what to do know? The Origianl contains Wheat Flour, The Crunchies contain Rice Flour, and the Jerkey contains Wheat Glueten From Germany. I went to the offical website and here is what they said: April 3, 2007 To Our Valued Customers: Due to the recent (and extremely understandable) concerns regarding the safety of all our pets, Arctic Paws, LLC , the maker of Yummy Chummies brand salmon dog and cat treats wants to reassure all of our customers that our treats are not affected by the recent pet food recall. Yummy Chummies are safe to feed pets. From information provided by the media, we understand that the recent pet food recall relates to product produced in Canada with contaminated wheat gluten imported from China. Yummy Chummies original, bacon flavor, chicken flavor, vita chummies, salmon crunchies and salmon and potato do not contain wheat gluten. All flours used in Yummy Chummies are the same flours approved for human consumption and sold in local grocery stores. The only product that Arctic Paws, LLC, manufactures with wheat gluten is our salmon jerky treat. The wheat gluten in our salmon jerky product is imported from Germany only. We have not and do not utilize any products from China and we manufacture our own products on site. We truly appreciate your business and concern. Please be assured that all our products are safe for pets. Sincerely, Brett A. | My gut tells me "when in doubt, throw it out". Blue Buffalo believed that their products were not affected either until the FDA informed them that one of their suppliers had been lying to them all along. They pulled their product just in case and are actively pursuing other options so that they can get their food back on the shelves. From what I gather, as the FDA makes their rounds, companies who were told one thing are sometimes finding otherwise. BUT I've never heard of the product so I'd wait for advice from someone more familiar with it. |

| I normally am so good about what I buy, but I guess I really just didn't pay attention to the ingredients cause I bought it online and kinda in a hurry. I did open the Salmon Crunchies before I noticed the ingredients, so I think I will just toss those and return the other 2 unopened bags back to sitstay.com ...Oh Another thing I just remembered that I saw on the bag - It said: Not Meant For Human Consumption Now, for sure I am not giving these to my babies! I have a strict policy that they don't eat anything that I can't Ok, so I answered my own questions |
