| It did, but they're saying that the owner of Merricks also owns a rendering plant...That's what is causing the controversy around his food. Because his foods are supposed to be really good, but the fact that he owns a rendering plant makes people wonder about Merricks foods...

| If you are looking for something to feed your babies which hasnt (and isnt likely to) be affected by the recalls, try and find Advance Pet Food. It is an Australian brand (is made in Australia) and we have had none of the recalls of our products. Its not a bad food at all, my dogs do well on it http://www.advancepetfood.com.au/ |

| I do not know about Merrick, but I do know about rendering plants. Rendering plants use all of what is not human consumable from a chicken and then it is used to make dog food. There are about 3 rendering plants in my area. And boy do they smell if you go near them, and we hate to ever get caught behind one of their trucks. Ugh!! There is usually drippings from their trucks of old chicken blood and it just looks really gross. I do not really believe they use road kills, vet animals that were put to sleep, etc... I use to work for a vet years ago and we had to contact the humane society to come and get the animals we had to put to sleep - (put to sleep - requested by their owners and where they did not want to take them). In Florida at the time - owners could bury their pets themselves. I know it may have changed and more regulated now in certain areas. But usually rendering plants are just chicken parts. My husband has been in rendering plants too around here when he worked in outside sales, electrical and use to call on them. When he would go there - they would show him around the plant to talk about lighting. Just wanted to clear up some facts. T. |
