Yorkie Yakker | No reaction I've used the products on both my dogs without any reaction. However, I did find this on a site: We were so happy to read your article about the side effects that can be caused by flea remedies. The last two times we have given our dog his flea treatment, within five days he has had trembling and what we thought was a seizure, the second time. The vet told us that the treatment would not have any effect on the dog in that way. We have since decided to stop administering the topical flea treatment, and are going to try sprinkling around our dog's bedding, on his body, and on areas around the outside and inside of the house 20 MULE TEAM BORAX LAUNDRY DETERGENT. This was a suggestion by our neighbor who has two dogs, two cats, and a horse -- with NO FLEAS! |

| I've heard this before, but I wouldn't want my dogs licking or eating detergent! That could be dangerous. Also, it may help with fleas, but what about ticks?

| I'm bumping this. I'm interested to see if anyone has any updates on the products and how well they worked or didn't work.

| After all the terrible reactions and deaths from over the counter fleas products by Hartz, Sargeants, etc.. I wouldn't feel safe using it. There is a new product on the market that vets can get now although the commercials won't start until February. It's called Comfortis. It is a flavored tablet like Sentinel and Interceptor and starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and lasts for a month. The active ingredient is a product used to kill pests on organic vegetables, so it is really safe. The only downside is that it can't be used on dogs under five pounds. I guess they haven't figured out the dosing for dogs that small yet. |

| Thanks Ladymom. This is something to keep an eye on. But what about ticks? Here in NY, ticks are a major problem so I need something that works for both fleas and ticks. Anyone else have experience with "Natural Defence"?
