Just FYI about Artemis. I found this on their website:

We are aware that there is a new recall by Natural Balance Food with Rice Protein Concentrate ingredients.


We DO NOT use rice protein concentrate in our food.
Our food is 100% safe.
Our food is not involved with any recall.

All our employees feed their own pets Artemis Pet Food and we feel 100% safe.

Yeah, believe me, I looked them up this morning as well. (What a relief!) My pups LOVE the Artemis food (hated the Chicken Soup!). I also looked on the PETA website to see if Artemis does animal testing - glad to say THEY DON'T!
I am keeping a close eye out to be sure I don't feed contaminated food, but it's getting harder and harder to do! I don't cook (ok, RARELY do I cook - we out lots!) but if I did, I would cook for my pups in a heartbeat.

This is all so crazy.... I just went and got 5 sample packs last night because I want to get my pup off Eukanuba. I got Artemis, Canidae, Merrick, Eagle Pack's holistic select, and Natural balance salmon and rice. He liked all of them. HOw do I pick! and how do i know they aren't going to get recalled! I think I am leaning towards Artemis or Merrick. I like the ingredients and protein/fat content in Artemis the best of all of them. What do you think???

I remember reading the only product that the rice protein is made with is the Vension that they voluntarily recalled. Natural Balance doesnt use it in any of the other products as far as what I read. i hope that is right because I feed mine the Natural Balance Premium.

where to buy online or in a store an ALL NATURAL puppy food, or if I choose to make my own with ground turkey veggies etc., what do I use as a vitamin mineral supplement? I am so over try to keep track of this....Until it is over I am not feeding my puppies anything I do not make...

Sadly, I agree The pet food industry is getting away with far too much IMO. According to PETA, Menu Foods knew about pets dying at least a month before they issued the very first "voluntary" recall. If they got away with it, what's to stop other companies? What if they know about it right now but they're not telling us?

This is all so scary. I thought Royal Canin was too expensive & high-end to be effected but they've recalled some canned cat food. What's next? I really don't trust the industry and something, anything has to be done to regulate it AND to make these companies pay for their negligence.
