| Need help dog food shopping!! Ok i really want to change mojo's dog food to something that is better for him and something he will enjoy eating. Right now hes still eating what the breeder gave me (purina pro plan puppy) and occasional Cesar. I want something that i know wont be recalled and thats good for him. I dont want anything terribly expensive. I have no idea what to look for when getting him his food. I've been to the dog food analasis site and want something with a higher rating. I dont know if i need puppy or what. HELP!!!!

| Most of the recalled food "was" made in the US. I would never take a chance with my dogs lives by feeding any kind of dog food. I home cook for mine, always have, always will. |

| home cooking for most of us is not practical at this point but there are some GREAT foods you can get... try and make sure the bad says "human grade" you want to buy from a small pet store.. not a huge chain... i get Fromms.. they have a website... frommfamily.com where thye discuss the recall and how it affects them... they state that they only use fresh human grade food that is delivered daily. I pay about 18 dollars canadian for their small bag and it will last about 2-3 months.. most days layla only eats 1/4 of a cup.. 1/2 on a good day! good luck and good for you for wanting to switch to a good food! |

| I feed my 2 Artemis. It is rated 5 stars on http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com. Both of my two seem to like it a lot and I haven't seen any problems. Good luck!!

| Mine get a mixture of Artemis and Canidae. Which are both great foods. We also tried other high quality foods such as: Chicken Soup Merricks Fromms Innova Evangers I'm sure there are more quality foods that I have not listed here, but these are many of the popular choices (and the ones I can think of off the top of my head). I would recommend getting samples of any of these foods and seeing which one (ones) your furbaby likes the most. Most of the time you can email the company and they will send you samples. |

| I forget the amount of protein that these guys need, but if I remember correctly, the 6 star foods have too much protein.

| 18%-25% is what is recommended for these small dogs, I believe. We feed Merrick's Grammy's Pot Pie dry and canned, but have been trying to cook lately...

| I feed both of mine Canidae all life stages and normally mix in a different flavor of the Canidae as well. Right now we are using the orginal formula along with the chicken and rice formula. The protein levels in Canidae are great and the ingredients are top knotch! Unlike other dog food companies, like all the ones on the current recall list, and companies who've made HUGE mistakes in the past causing hundreds of dogs to die, like Diamond and other companies Canidae has never had a recall and has never been produced by Menu Foods! |
