| Ingredients to avoid??? Would someone be so kind as to share information on what ingredients are best to avoid when selecting dog food and treats? They put so much crap in food today that it's hard to tell exactly what you are buying! Even a link to a site with information would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning to save the info and keep for future reference. Thanks! |

Are any corn or wheat products ok? i.e. wheat flour? wheat bran? corn gluten meal? (assume no to this one, right?) What about soy? Thought I'd read this is a no-no as well.

| Corn, wheat, soy, by-products of any kind, beat pulp, etc. Those are just a few but there are more. Where's Rebecca? She knows them all (she's awesome)!!

| BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin are things to avoid in pet foods. Go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com and you'll be able to look through different foods. Generally, 4 & 5 star foods are recommended for yorkies If you look through the 1, 2, and 3 star foods, and click on the individual foods in those categories and read some of the reviews, you'll be able to see the ingredients that are not recommended.

| Canidae is a great food! You can try to give your babies natural treats like watermelon, apple(cut and peeled), yogurt, little pieces of bread...My furkids love that stuff!

| This comes from Dogter J's website 1) Wheat, barley, rye - ALL of these grains. (including bread, snack crackers, treats, etc.) Oats are the safest grains from an immunlogical standpoint (least allergy-producing) 2) Dairy products - ALL of them. (including milk, cheese, whey, casein, dried skim milk, etc.) 3) Soy - ALL of it. 4) Corn- (including corn gluten meal)- Try to eliminate as much of this as possbible. Eliminate ALL of this whenever possible. 5) Beef - (only if allergy symptoms are present and persistent. This is the most common secondary allergen in dogs) 6) Artificial preservatives and colors - (You want to see preserved with vit.E) |

| Why is beet pulp bad? Me and my mom both have our yorkie's on angel's eyes for their tear stains-and beet pulp is one of the main ingredients. We're having great success with it, and they are both healthy and happy. Should I be worried?

Thanks! The main treat we give is Cheerios which the girls adore. I also like to give carrots. I'm hoping to find a crunchy, biscuit-type treat to help with Riley's HORRIBLE teething breath.
