| Canidae I finally got my samples for Vinnie, in fact, Canidae was the only company who would give us samples. He had only been on the food that he came with, so I dumped out his bowl and just lined the bottom with the All Life Stages Chicken and Rice. That was the first time that he actually stayed in front of his bowl and ate it all right there, normally he takes a mouth full, runs away, eats it and goes back for more. We gave it to him last night, no change in mood, no vomiting and normal poop. YAY!!! I guess he's not picky and doesn't have a sensitive stomach. YAY!!! I can't find it anywhere around here, but i'm so happy that it went over so well, and now i'll do anything to get it! Cheers to a company who seems to actually care about the product they manufacture and who they manufacture it for!! |

| did you do the "search" on the Canidae website to find a distributor near you or are you just looking for it. I couldnt believe my small town had 2 distributors in it... one is an individual and the other a country store. Good luck

| Locations Here you go.... follow this link. Surely one of these are close enough to you. Good luck. http://www.canidae.com/company/storelocator.html Just put in your zip code, that is all that is required... it will give you a list of 3-5 locations near you...

| Thank you all, much to my dismay there is no store around here that carries it, such a shame. We have feed stores, but they just don't carry it, right after the dog food recall started I went to a particular feed store and talked to the general manager, I bet I could talk him into getting it! hehe, well I could try. It's sad that in my area, and probably many others too it is impossible for people to find a decent food. |

I am very comfortable with Canidae and I don't mind paying the extra shipping to have my dogs on it but thankfully we found a local feed store that started carrying it. Good luck

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I've been so happy with Canidae. Especially bc it seems to consistently be rated as excellent with all food reviewers, which is reassuring. I think Wylie has been itching less and less the longer he is on it, which is so great to see. Keep talking to that feed store - he'd be smart to carry it! Such a great food at an excellent price!

| Im testing kibble with Izzy and I tried the Canidae. He really likes it. The distributor in my area sent samples along with coupons which was really nice. Between getting the samples and hearing good things about it from others I might make the switch. Im deciding between this and Solid Gold Wee Bits. He likes those too!

| How do you get ahold of these samples? I emailed several sites trying to get samples and none of them responded or sent anything.

This is how I got them: -Go to the Canidae website http://www.canidae.com -Click on "Contact Us" -Scroll down to "Retail Sales Contacts" -Click on your regional area (My area was Midwest US Sales) You might either be South East or South West US Sales -Fill out the form and in the message area tell them that you are interested in trying out samples. I just told them the weight, age and breed of my dog. I got an email from the rep saying that she was on vacation. I waited a couple of days but no response. So I ended up filling out the form again on the site and within one day I got a response back from the area rep. She was very nice, she told me the samples were on there way along with coupons and a list of the retailers in my area. I got them in 3 days after she contacted me. I got 3 small sample bags. You should have some luck as long as your area rep isnt on vacation Hope this helps, let me know if you have any luck.

WOW! thanks a lot! If this works and Brooklyn likes the canidae, I may consider switching from Royal Canin. I don't like that the first ingredient is chicken meal I've also been considering Nature's Variety Raw... hmm decisions decisions

| Chicken meal isn't a bad protein source, I promise. Canidae has a link on their site explaining the industry meaning of chicken meal, definitely worth a look. In fact, it's the number one ingredient in the canidae chicken and rice too. |

| No problem! I know the feeling...I had a hard time deciding so I narrowed it down to 3: Canidae, Solid Gold Wee Bits and Merricks. I also feed him Dr. Harvey's Canine Health, its a freeze dried pre-mix. So far he likes Canidae and Solid Gold.

So is Canidae better because it has no corn or corn meal at all, where Royal Canin does have corn meal listed?

| Definitely. The corn can give your baby the itchies and "frito feet." Definitely one of the most allergy inducing substances. I'm allergic to it myself! A food with no corn is almost always better than any other food with corn. Avoiding soy and wheat is a good idea too, they can also make puppies itchy. I'm, um, allergic to those too. ::chuckle:: Oats and brown rice are good fiber sources, but try to steer clear of the others. Last edited by jatango; 04-10-2007 at 12:00 PM. |
