Canidae I finally got my samples for Vinnie, in fact, Canidae was the only company who would give us samples. He had only been on the food that he came with, so I dumped out his bowl and just lined the bottom with the All Life Stages Chicken and Rice. That was the first time that he actually stayed in front of his bowl and ate it all right there, normally he takes a mouth full, runs away, eats it and goes back for more. We gave it to him last night, no change in mood, no vomiting and normal poop. YAY!!! I guess he's not picky and doesn't have a sensitive stomach. YAY!!! I can't find it anywhere around here, but i'm so happy that it went over so well, and now i'll do anything to get it! Cheers to a company who seems to actually care about the product they manufacture and who they manufacture it for!! |
did you do the "search" on the Canidae website to find a distributor near you or are you just looking for it. I couldnt believe my small town had 2 distributors in it... one is an individual and the other a country store. Good luck |
Locations Here you go.... follow this link. Surely one of these are close enough to you. Good luck. http://www.canidae.com/company/storelocator.html Just put in your zip code, that is all that is required... it will give you a list of 3-5 locations near you... :D :D :D |

Thank you all, much to my dismay there is no store around here that carries it, such a shame. We have feed stores, but they just don't carry it, right after the dog food recall started I went to a particular feed store and talked to the general manager, I bet I could talk him into getting it! hehe, well I could try. It's sad that in my area, and probably many others too it is impossible for people to find a decent food. |

I am very comfortable with Canidae and I don't mind paying the extra shipping to have my dogs on it but thankfully we found a local feed store that started carrying it. :) Good luck |
I've been so happy with Canidae. Especially bc it seems to consistently be rated as excellent with all food reviewers, which is reassuring. I think Wylie has been itching less and less the longer he is on it, which is so great to see. Keep talking to that feed store - he'd be smart to carry it! Such a great food at an excellent price! |
Im testing kibble with Izzy and I tried the Canidae. He really likes it. The distributor in my area sent samples along with coupons which was really nice. Between getting the samples and hearing good things about it from others I might make the switch. Im deciding between this and Solid Gold Wee Bits. He likes those too!:p |
How do you get ahold of these samples? I emailed several sites trying to get samples and none of them responded or sent anything. :( |

This is how I got them: -Go to the Canidae website http://www.canidae.com -Click on "Contact Us" -Scroll down to "Retail Sales Contacts" -Click on your regional area (My area was Midwest US Sales) You might either be South East or South West US Sales -Fill out the form and in the message area tell them that you are interested in trying out samples. I just told them the weight, age and breed of my dog. I got an email from the rep saying that she was on vacation. I waited a couple of days but no response. So I ended up filling out the form again on the site and within one day I got a response back from the area rep. She was very nice, she told me the samples were on there way along with coupons and a list of the retailers in my area. I got them in 3 days after she contacted me. I got 3 small sample bags. You should have some luck as long as your area rep isnt on vacation:p Hope this helps, let me know if you have any luck. |

WOW! thanks a lot! :) If this works and Brooklyn likes the canidae, I may consider switching from Royal Canin. I don't like that the first ingredient is chicken meal :( I've also been considering Nature's Variety Raw... hmm decisions decisions |
Chicken meal isn't a bad protein source, I promise. :) Canidae has a link on their site explaining the industry meaning of chicken meal, definitely worth a look. In fact, it's the number one ingredient in the canidae chicken and rice too. |

So is Canidae better because it has no corn or corn meal at all, where Royal Canin does have corn meal listed? |
Definitely. The corn can give your baby the itchies and "frito feet." Definitely one of the most allergy inducing substances. I'm allergic to it myself! A food with no corn is almost always better than any other food with corn. Avoiding soy and wheat is a good idea too, they can also make puppies itchy. I'm, um, allergic to those too. ::chuckle:: Oats and brown rice are good fiber sources, but try to steer clear of the others. |

Yup! Comes from the feet. Smell the pads after they've run around and worked up a sweat. Corn chips! Some people will have that happen after eating lots of corn too. |

So, if anyone is interested in trying Canidae, I have two small sample bags I would mail out (preferably to two different people so it helps more than one person). Just PM me. |
I have a 3 lb 4 month old, which dry Canidae should I try, I didn't see a puppy food listed? I have learned alot off this site in the last couple months, before I really didn't know about dog food ratings. |

My furkids have been on Canidae All Life Stages for about two years now. They all have Frito Feet Syndrome. I love to hug them up and sniff their tootsies. Canidae is a fantastic food. I am feeding 7 Yorkies between the ages of 4 years and 6 months and an elderly Boxer. They all have wonderfully shiny coats, tons of energy, and just glow with good health. |

For real sensitive stomachs try the Lamb and Rice. The kibble is small so it is the perfect size for our little ones. Mine are on Canidae and I must say I am very pleased with this dog food. Mine all love it, even the picky eaters love it. And their coat and skin is healthier too. I feed it all to my two puppies who are 7months old, my two yorkies who are a little over a year old, my yorkie poo who is almost 2years old and my cocker spaniel who is a senior at 9 years old. I highly recommend Canidae, it is really a great food!! |
I order our Canidae food from www.petfooddirect.com. Check for coupon codes online and you can save on your order. They also have automatic delivery once you see how often you need to replenish. Glad yours liked it -- it is a quality food! |

Pets supplies plus had sample bags at the counter they last time I was in there if any of you have one near by. Since I started my girl on the food her coat is starting to grow. I thought it would be thin and choppy forever. I really think she is going to have a beautiful coat. |
I get Canadaie dry at Southern States IF you have a southern States feed store? Ask them is they can order it for you. I had to push my store here to get it.... Now that can not keep it on the shelf. Good Luck. |

I use Chicken Soup for The Puppy Lovers Soul . I noticed you had Used Chicken Soup Puppy - How does the kibble size compare to Canidae? |
I get ours at Southern States Feed store. Do you have any feed stores ?? |

No Canidae or Innova, just Chicken Soup Soul. |
Just wanted to add my 2 cents. A big thumbs up for Canidae! My babies have been on it for a about 1 1/2 months (all life stages reg formula) and I have noticed a big change in their coats expecially. AprilLove is more cottony and her hair has gotten much more glossy and shiny and hardly if ever matts. Nappy I have seen less dramatic change, but still shinier. |
I must say that I too am very happy with Canidae. I switched Dezi about 4 weeks ago and I can see the difference in her hair. She also has cottony hair and before feeding Canidae it looke dull and not shiny. I can see the difference and she loves it. |
