Help! My yorkie is losing her hair on her back legs Hi, I am new to this site, but was hoping that someone would be able to give me some advice or insight. Julie is almost 9 months old. About 1 month ago we noticed that her hind legs were losing hair. She doesn't have any fleas and scratches occasionally, but nothing obsessive. I thought it was growing back about 2 weeks ago, but today it almost looks as though her thighs have been shaved. Her food hasn't changed at all. She seems perfectly fine otherwise. Any suggestions or thoughts? Has anyone else had this happen or heard of this happening?

This happened to Tinkerbelle when she was about 3-4 months old. It grew back in after about a month. I have no idea why it did that and no idea why it grew back just fine. So, I'm no help except to commiserate with you and tell you that there's at least one other dog who has had that happen.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. It does look at times like its gowing back, but like I said today it looks shaved! Was Tinkerbelle's isolated to the front portion of the hind legs as well?

Here's the link to what I posted about Tink. There's a pic somewhere in it so you can see how bad it got before it got better. The tests the vet did all came back negative. We never did figure it out. It was mostly on her back hind legs and her tail. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66314

Thanks for the pic Thanks to both of you. At least I know that this has happened to others. The picture looks similar to Julie's, although hers doesn't look like patches, it's very uniform all along the front of her back legs and seems to go a little bit up along her sides. Nothing on her tail though. What exactly is scudding? I am not familiar with that.

| Balding If nothing is medically wrong (always check w your vet 1st) then perhaps change the diet. In my opinion most allergies, scratching, balding, eye snots etc are related to the diet....good luck!
