I started feeding Izzy Dr. Harvey's Canine Health. It is a holistic dog food pre-mix that is freeze dried instead of heat treated like most of the other foods. He loves it too. I bought a small bag to test it out to see how long it lasts for the price because it is expensive. If it doesnt work out I'm going to try either Canidae or Merricks, Ive heard good things about those brands. Originally he was on Nutro Ultra Puppy. I still leave it out for him as a snack.

Reading your other posts I wanted to tell you Flint River Ranch is on the larger side. I do break it up for Gus.

If you check Newman's Own on the Dog Food Review they don't rate it that high (3 star) because "insufficient meat product in the food"

I don't worry about that because Gus gets homecooked meat but I wanted to point it out to anyone that is only feeding dog food.

WOW..............my head hurts after reading all this.............I did read all of the threads and now will go back and srite down all the names that were given.......cooking for Tyson is just not realistic for ME, if I had the time, that might be a different story. Tyson in the first addition to ur family and the first addition me and my fiance have had that is our s to take care of in every since of the word, we did have pets growing up, but mom and dad handled the vet bills, food etc. So like everyone else on here we want the best for him, and we cant seem to get a break, the very firstt ime I buy Ty a treat, which was a soft food since he had just been neutered, the stuff just about killed him we ended up with a very large bill and a puppy who had a seizure and bad kidney test results and had to stay overnight, just 3 days after a neuter.............THANK YOU NURTO-CAL.........The first thing I asked the board when we got him was about food and we decided on Royal K, now I see some iffy stuff about that...and bottom line is I just feel I need to change. Tyson is a very picky eater and he really is not a big one to get excited about meal time. I have yet to find him a treat that he truly like so I bet you know what I need help with....any info on treats that will help me not to posion my little guy again and anyone have info on what to get for ones that ar enot big eaters or will he gow out of that?? Not sure if this is where I read this but if I want to get sample of foods from the different types do I just e mail them and ask them or what is the best way?? I was feeding the chicken soup for the puppy and those are small kibble. I did at one point try the regular and kibble was larger and my dogs just wouldnt touch it.

As far as treats, I give Izzy Old Mother Hubbard and Buddy Bites. You can find both of them at PetSmart. He hasn't gotten sick from them. What did you feed him that got him so sick? I heard that if you email the companies you can get samples that way. I am actually going to do the same thing. Good luck!

My babies LOVE freeze dried liver! Also Dr Beckers Bites - grain free liver treats. They also love pupperoni, though I try not to give too much of that cause I'd bet its not so good for them! Even my picky guest puppy gobbles up all these treats :D

currently i am feeding my guy prescrpption hills i/d i think .. is that good, i have no idea about dog food honestly .. and reading all these have given me a headache b/c now i am all worried :( my guy doens't really LIKE i/d but he'll eat it b/c its the only thing i will feed him at the moment. i've also given him Nutro Natural/holistic puppy treats? has anyone else used these?

i'm still feeding them royal canin dry yorkie food. ;)

the I/D is perfectly fine. Do you know exactly why he's on the I/D? if its not for a too too serious problem you might be able to switch him over to another dry food that's for allergies and sensitive stomaches.

My vet told us that Salmon could kill our dog. We used to live in Alaska and my husband went salmon fishing religiously. He was telling the vet how he was going to make our dog some salmon and rice and the vet said dogs can get poisoned from Salmon. I am sure a dog food company would not include something poisinous but I thought I would mention it!

I have never heard of these 3 foods. (Merrick, Canidae and Innova) Where would I find them?

Bunty and Pippi have Winalot British Classics with Iams Senior Kibble on top. They have tried lots of different foods over the years but these are their favourites. They also like Frolics and have a Pedigree Denta Stix daily.:aimeeyork :aimeeyork

I'm still using Nutro, but have started the eternal soup bowl for them. I bought a lot of chicken legs, and boiled them till they were soft, added some veggies, and now everytime we're done eating I put all the leftovers into the put, and their lovin it.

They are not carried by Petsmart or any of the chain stores. You have to seek out independent merchants and feed stores. I am 50 miles outside of Chicago (east is pavement, west is corn) and we have probably 6 locations to buy decent food within 15-20 miles, you just need to know where to go. There are maps on all of their websites that list stores in your area.
