| Rawhide So we have these little rawhides we bought. They are about the size of a straw, just shorter. Gizmo LOVES them cuz hes teething. We've bought rubber/plastic extra small bones, flavoured, he wont chew on them. We;ve put peanut butter on it...still doenst like it. So we give him the rawhide...but ive heard it gives gas, and causes digestive problems. Is this true...and is it ok to give him 1 a day for his teething. If we dont...he tries to eat his toys, shoes, socks, anything he can chomp down on. The Kong toy works as well, but once the treats gone(which is quickly) he wont chew it unless theres more treats, and i dont want a fat puppy Any advice? |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | You'll get some mixed opinions here, but I think most of us stay away from rawhide. If the dog swallows them, they can't digest all of them. I stopped when I caught my guy gagging on one that was stuck in the roof of his mouth. It wasn't the stick like you're talking about, though. I know some people give them to their dogs if their dogs are not swallowers, but even then I'd recommend taking it away when it gets soft. Better yet, stay with kongs or nylabones.

| Before (I didn't know) Phoebe just to get rawhide but at the pet store they told me that beef tendons are better and that she likes, she don't like anything else to chew on it but I alway keep my eyes on her, I don't give it to her every day either, and when she get it I monitor the time because later she don't want to eat as much. |
