Sammie just swallows, doesn't chew his food Can someone help me? My sammie won't chew his food...he just picks up the pieces and swallows them. I am feeding him Royal Canin puppy 33 and the pieces are really small but he doesn't even chew. Should I worrry about this? It seems like he's eating so fast and forgetting to chew

I think my little princess does this too, she has been doing this since she was a puppy, once in awhile she chews. but rarely. She chews her snacks but small things like yogurt drops and her food she just swallows. Thankfully she has not chocked. I started using wellness and they pieces are bigger and she chews now.

When I was feeding very small kibble food my kids would swallow whole. To remedy the situation I found a nice smooth heavy rock, washed it well and put it in the dish, they have to push the rock around to get the kibble and can't eat quite as fast.

| that's such a great idea! I would have never thought of that. I have the same problem with Kayah but she'll chew her kibble.. it's the extras (like chicken or pieces of cooked beef) that we doesn't swallow

Most dogs do not chew their food, and is a good reason to get them a nice femur bone to chew on.
