| Ok, I didn't figure it out until we'd had a couple litters of puppies. I think that one of the first things new puppies learn is that momma cleans them up when they poop. The momma is constantly cleaning their little bottoms and eating the poop and pee. So, what are they conditioned to do when they open their little eyes and start to become mobile? They eat poop just like momma does for them. Most of them do it, we call it self-snacking, and grow out of it. I saw my neighbor going around her yard and sprinkling something on the lawn. I asked what she was doing and she said that someone told her to put tobasco on the dog poop and then they would not eat it. I asked her why she wasn't just picking it up and throwing it away since she was searching for poop anyways.......she just looked at me and said :0 "Oh, I didn't think of that!"

I smiled with all the posts except for yours when I started laughing out loud. We just picked up our new little stud from friends in FL. Her grown son tried to convince us that we really didn't want Buddy because he was a BAD dog, he bites and he eats poop! But he joins us in Ohio with a troop of poop eaters that can scoop it up faster than a blink of the eye. I read somewhere that dogs eat cat poop because the food is not totally digested. I guess that may apply to puppies poop too. Anyway, I'm going to try the meat tenderizer. It just might be an easy solution.
