| Merricks Anyone here feed their dogs Merricks food? It's a highly rated premium dog food so we decided we were going to start feeding it to Emma after reading some great reviews...Last night, my husband and I went to go buy some, but they were all out of the Grammy's Pot Pie dry food, so we bought the canned food. It's awesome!! My picky little maltese loved it, and it looks pretty good too I hope she loves the dry food as much as the canned. Anyone else try it?

| They have recently started to use some organic ingredients, so I think it's a pretty cool brand. We used it when Mia was a puppy. I liked it because you can add water to the dry food, and it becomes soft with a gravy-like sauce. Excellent for picky puppies! There have been rumors on the internet recently about how Merrick uses left-overs from its rendering plant in their pet foods, but that is not true because their dog foods do not have by-products as an ingredient. If they did use it, they would have had to list it as by-products. We sometimes give Mia the canned food. She loves Mediterranean Banquet. Oh, we also buy a lot of Merrick treats, like Flossies.

| I give Gracie some canned Merrick's with her dry food once a day. I use ProPlan puppy canned the other meal. Merrick's is really good food and she loves most all of the flavors except cowboy cookout. Be cautious of the wing-a-lings, I found a chicken bone in there once!

| Yeah, I haven't given the wingalings yet, but it's supposed to have the bone in it...I read on the can that the cooking process has softened the bone. Some other people that I have talked to mush up the bone since it's so soft, just in case, even though its "supposed" to be safe to eat. What dry food does your baby eat?

| My guys love Wingaling. I only take the bones out if they are HUGE otherwise I just mush them up. We rotate the different kinds but they get it every night! I know many think thats kibble is best for their teeth, but I ran it past the vet and she totally approved of the canned food. I've read that it's only the low quality canned food you should be concerned about. Whole Dog Journal agrees that canned food is better than kibble. We do kibble in the morning and canned at night. Plus, we brush their teeth. I have tried canned food from Innova, Canidae and Evangers and none of them have measured up to the Merrick. I think that's because they make it so it appeals to humans too. I know the others are just as nutritious, but there's something about feeding them WHOLE pieces of chicken and carrots and potatoes that just makes me feel better about it. I'm sure that's the point!

| Thanks for your input Erin, I had considered all those foods for my little maltese, but decided on the Merricks as well. I'm glad to hear that I'm not missing out on anything better. I also love the way it looks like a complete meal, and the way she just eats it up. Ever since I got her, she has not liked the dry food that they sent for her which was Natural Balance...I know it's good for her, but she didn't like it anymore for some reason?? I still haven't found a dry food. I've been trying to figure out if I should also feed the Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie dry or something like Canidae...

If you can afford it and have time to deal with the canned food there's no reason not to feed it exclusively. Loki has a sensitive tummy and I worry that he will have soft stool from just canned food. Plus, they only eat half a can between them for a meal and I don't have time to dish out food and store the extra in the morning. It's easier to pour out kibble in the morning and take the time to prep the canned in the evening. If our schedule changes I will do 100% canned IF Loki's tummy can handle it.

| Great, thanks! She hasn't had loose stool yet...so far so good! We tried the Natural Balance canned food, but she did not like the texture of it, she prefers the Merricks much better. I haven't tried the Evo dry because I just worry about the protein content...It's so high, and she's such a little girl, I'm afraid it will be too much for her...I know dogs are supposed to have high protein diets, but I'm a worrywort! LOL
