| New puppy sick I just got a new Yorkie for graduation and we're having health problems. When I got him he had a runny nose and some eye crust, but not too serious. Well yesterday he developed kennel cough and now he is in the hospital on IV's and antibiotics to prevent pneumonia. He's only 10wks old and 2 lbs. so we're afraid he's not going to make it :-( Does anyone have any experience with this topic? |

| yes, my pom Comic had that as well as ringworm when we bought him at 8 weeks. He is now 13 years old. Your puppy can make it through that. Keep us updated.

| Bella came down with Kennel Cough real bad too. They gave her antibiotics and we thought it went away but the infection was still in her after 2 weeks. She became very sick and they had to do the bubble on her back to get fluids into her and put back onto antibiotics for 2 more weeks. The blood tests showed her white blood cell count was very high. She has been off the antibiotics for about 2 weeks and I still hear her cough a little but she is growing, eating and playing. The vet said it can stay with them for a month or so and then they can have stuff left inside them and cough still for a couple months. It's a good thing you got her to the Dr's, they will take care of her We will keep your baby in our prayers!!!

| Try to think positive thoughts. I think he will be fine. What did the breeder say when you informed him/her of the fact that the puppy is sick? Sometimes they can be better nurses than the vets. I would get as many people helping to save him as possible. Your breeder may know some info about the puppy of his siblings or mom and dad that could help the vet. Kennel cough is usually not life threatening but if there are other "things' it may be more complicated. I will sent positive thoughts and prayers your way. |

| I sure hope your new little puppy will pull through, and I think he's in good hands and don't know much about kennel cough, but from what I've read, they normally can fight it pretty well! Best wishes and congrats on your new baby and your graduation! |

| Kennel cough can quickly turn into pneumonia. There are some excellent herbs that I have used, as well as collodial silver. You can add a little boiled thyme to the drinking water to open the airways as well. The mist from boiling thyme water is good for breathing. I use these as well as a Horehound Blend that has mullein, astragalus, horehound, sage, orange peel, oregon grape, and ginger. Lincocin is an excellent upper respiratory antibiotic as well, just follow with goat yogurt, or primadopholis... Good luck. deborah & Feliz. |

| How old was she when she got sick? Sam is 10wks and we just went to visit him today at the vet and he's coughing more than when we left him there. I think it's b/c it's becoming more productive which is a good sign b/c that means he's getting it out of his lungs. They are treating him for pneumonia. He is very alert and even biting off his IV. He also started eating more today. I'm bringing him back to our breeder's vet tomorrow and we'll see what happens from there. Thanks for replying! Hope Bella gets well soon. |
