| low fat not high in protein dry dog food for lexi.... right now shes eating chicken soup and before that was merricks food. i think right now its to much protein for her and she is getting really muscular. would like to really slim her down a bit.... i dont even give her alot of it, but something is making her heavy.. she really doesnt eat alot.. i give her carrots and celery and lowfat cottage cheese and like a few tiny pcs of chicken in her food. but only like 10 pcs of dry food. i need a low fat good dry food.. anyone know of any?????? i feel as if its too much weight for her to carry... she gets out of breath fast... shes not an active dog, how can she be, shes home alone all day sleeping.

| Chicken Soup is an excellent brand. She probably needs more excercise (at least a 30 minute walk every night but 1 hour would be better). In addition, I would definitely cut out the chicken and cottage cheese (and the barbecue sauce). She should be fine after that. She's such a little cutie pie.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I feed chicken soup and whats weird is when I switched over, my pug actually lost weight. She's much thinner since I switched to Chicken Soup. (I was feeding Iams and was unaware it wasn't good for her until I joined YT) |

| Natural Balance, Canidae, Wellness, California Natural, Innova, Nutro all have weight control formulas -- probably lots more too. Look for words like "lite, " weight control, less active dogs and low calorie. I doubt you need lower protein as much as lower fat and total calorie. If she is only getting 10 peices of dry food a day though, I doubt it is the food causing a weight problem. How many treats a day? Has she been checked for things like thyroid disease and glucose metabolism?
