How do I know if Zoe is going into heat? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I just gave my 8 month old female 7lb. yorkie Zoe a bath and noticed that she is swollen down there and standing straight out. She licked her self over the weekend but no blood. Is she going into heat? I never owned a female dog before.

CAli went into heat at 8 1/2 months and I first noticed her licking down there a lot! Then after a few days I looked and she was swollen and a little tiny bit of blood. She also didn't want to eat much or play.

Thanks I have always had boys. She still plays with my cats more like tries to maul them. But she has always been finicky but she is eating less than ever. Thanks for the help.
