You can tell if they have fleas because they scratch A LOT! And if you run your hands carefully over their skin, you can feel the nasty little bite sores. You can actually see the fleas running around, usually up on the neck near the ears and on their back at the base of the tail. They are usually dark reddish brown and kinda shiny. UUUUGGGGGHHHHHHhhhhh. Hate 'em. You can also see/feel "flea dirt" which is like shiny hard black grains of sand. EEeeeeewwww.

and ... Mary Ellen, you forgot to mention that they will jump off on us too!! As "close" as Toto and I are, if she gets one ... yep! I get one too!

Thanks for the information. Fleas sound just horible. Yuk. Poor puppy. I'm glad you got rid of those nasty fleas.
