| question about healthy food I have layla on Blue Buffalo right now, a holistic food if you aren't familiar with it... she's been on it for about 2 months... maybe a little less... and for about the past month.. she doenst' seem to eat much... but poops regularly. i think i remmeber hearing somewhere that since this is a high quality food, it stays with her longer than the junk food that she came on. is that why she requires less? some days she won't eat at all.. but still poop, and then the next day she'll eat normally.... but she doens't start getting hungry till around supper time... is anyone else's pup like this? |

| Buddy is the same way... he is usually not hungry until the afternoon/evening and he doesn't eat much. He is on the Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier mix. I have just not been worrying about it as long as he's not losing a lot of weight or is depressed. |

| I have Ferdinand on a holistic food also. I was having that problem as well. A few days ago I noticed a piece of his food was in his water. The food hugely expands. It must have quadrupled in size. His Eukanuba food didn't really get that big when in water. Maybe your pup is just full?

| Me too! Gus was eating Royal Canin until a few weeks ago.....and he would eat at every meal as though he were starving. However, once I started him on California Natural he barely seems to eat. He rarely finishes a whole meal. Whereas before there was never a kibble left!

| Maybe they are just full from a better kibble? I think so long they are not hungry it is okay.

| You Got It Right! The super-premium, natural, holistic foods, reduce stool volume because more food is assimilated, wholly digested, and reduces the amount of poop because poor quality grains are not used. I put my boys on Timberwolf Organics, Black Forest Variety, and Innova Evo Red Meat more than 4 months ago (after Wellness), and they only poop twice a day and, believe it or not, the poop has a pleasant, non-stinky smell. I also use Missing Link Plus, but very little, a tad less then a 1/4 tsp. per meal, and they eat twice a day. I only give natural, holistic treats, and more real meat treats and the Evo Red Meat kibble as snacks. I avoid other grains, like wheat and corn, and sometimes add, instead, slightly cooked vegetables, sliced thinly. They also like cottage cheese and yogurt. I give them cooked 93% lean hamburger, or organic fresh chicken with the kibble. I always have Innova Red Meat wet food on hand (it's pure meat and ground bone only) for flavor and smell, and it's great to hide medication in by making a small "meatball"! It's worth every penny to give our kids the very best natural, organic, holistic foods. We should eat so well!!!!
