My puppies were eating Nutro Ultra Puppy. I recently started mixing it with Science Diet and am weining them to Science Diet totally. Since the mix, their coats look so much healthier and shinier. A few different vets had recommended Science Diet so I decided to try it out. The puppies love it, too. They eat it alot better than the Nutro.

Thanks for the info. My first puppy had started out on Science Diet with it's breeder. I kept her on it for about a month. I started hearing a few negative things about it, the main one being that it has alot of corn in it. So, I switched her to Nutro. She doesn't like it so much, and her hair was getting really dull. I just recently switched back to Science Diet because one of the vets had his black standard poodle in the office and I noticed how beautiful her hair was. It reminded me of my dog (my black yorkipoo) when she was younger. He said he feeds her Science Diet. Always has. And his other dogs eat Nutro. He said he had researched food also and that most foods made for dogs come from the makers of Science Diet. Don't know how true that is, but because of how healthy and beautiful his dog looked, I thought I'd give it a try. I can say that since she's been back on it, her hair is looking SO much better. It's almost back to how it used to be. My other yorkipoo on the other hand has skin issues and I can't tell a difference on him. I asked for a food recommendation because of his skin problem and Science Diet was the one they recommended the most. I'd like to try something different with him though. His skin is super dry, he is on fatty acids, and I don't know what else to do. I'm going to check out that website. Thank You.

We have our 3 month old Lexus on Science Diet. Is there a better option out there, we are new dog owners and do not know much about the different types of food. She likes it and is rather a pig! She's eating just over a 1/2 cup a day, according to the bag that's normal, she's currently 3lbs already though, the vet says she's healthy. Can anyone tell me how much they feed their pups?

Ok now to your other question YES there is a better option out there than Science Diet My breeder had Bailey on SD too and as I said before Dr. recommend that because they get a kick off of selling it so if you got some kind of incentive for selling something I would say its the BEST ALSO until you come in and say that your dog skin is dry and red, or your dog has an ear infection, or your dog has an allergy THEN they will HOPEFULLY tell you the food that your baby should of been on in the first place I would recommend that you research some of the other posts about food that is on YT...........but here are what I found that most people are feeding their babies........Chicken Soup California Natural Nutro Canidae Life's Balance and I could be leaving out some but thats what came to mind off the top of my head Hope I could help!!

| I dont understand that one star for Royal Canin. There was another survey on here where they posted the ingredients and rated each brand and Royal Canin got a 96% positive rating

at least you tried to switch to a better brand but also I would contradict myself and say say if it is proven (do more research) to be a BAD food maybe you should try a little harder I mean its only best for you little babies JUST MY OPINION

Currently we are feeding our 3&1/2 month Yorkie pup Gerbers Meats, primarily turkey and chicken on the recommendation of her vet when she got sick after her second round of shots recently. So that's the only thing that seems to settle her tummy down. She's a really picky eater. We had her on MAX puppy canned food mixed with Royal Canin crunchies as everyone recommended crunchies, but her tummy is easily upset ever since her shots. So we may try switching her to something more high quality. Maybe it's the corn in MAX or the beet pulp that is causing distress. And she's allergic to beef, so anything with that is out. When I feed her strictly crunchies, she only eats a few at a time, usually takes them out of the bowl and drops them on the floor to eat. It's a pain to get her to eat at all.
