Well I have an almost 4 month old and he is around 3 lbs and I use to do what the bag recommended but he would eat all of it throughout the day and sometimes when he would go back it would be empty and it would break my heart to see him sniffin the little bowl with nothing in it so I just fill his bowl with dry food everytime I see its empty and alot of YTers say that puppies will eat until they are full they will not overeat I do that for Bailey and he doesn't overeat

Ok now to your other question
YES there is a better option out there than Science Diet
My breeder had Bailey on SD too and as I said before Dr. recommend that because they get a kick off of selling it

so if you got some kind of incentive for selling something I would say its the BEST ALSO until you come in and say that your dog skin is dry and red, or your dog has an ear infection, or your dog has an allergy THEN they will HOPEFULLY tell you the food that your baby should of been on in the first place

I would recommend that you research some of the other posts about food that is on YT...........but here are what I found that most people are feeding their babies........
Chicken Soup
California Natural
Nutro
Canidae
Life's Balance
and I could be leaving out some but thats what came to mind off the top of my head

Hope I could help!!
