Health and Care advice I've been looking around most websites, trying to find the best things for Yorkies, and not doing so well.. Pretty soon, I'm going to add a little furbaby to the family, but am a bit afraid I won't know what I'm doing! The beagle I own is a lot less matinence than I think a yorkie will be. So, fellow YT'ers, can you help me? I need names of good food, grooming items, the best toys, treats, etc. Also any tips are great! I want to make sure my yorkie is well taken care of just as much as he'll be loved

Also, what sort of human food (if any) can yorkies eat? My little beagle eats everything she can get her paws on.. But she's partially indestructible.

Any food on this list with a protein content between 20-30% is an EXCELLENT food choice that you absolutely cannot go wrong with. Here's what I personally recommend: - I feed Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul AND Canidae All Life Stages (both dry foods) mixed together. - I use Missing Link Supplement on their food everyday. - I bathe them with moisturizing shampoo & conditioner from PetSmart. I also sometimes use Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner. - I spritz them with diluted Emu Oil after towel drying them after a bath before blowing them dry. - I brush them daily - I walk them 2-3 times daily - They chew on Merrick's Bully Sticks and Flossies, both of which are great for their teeth and 100% digestible (unlike rawhide or Greenies, which are both dangerous) - I'm about to start using Apple Cider Vinegar in their water, a capful a day in their water bowl -- it neutralizes the pH levels of their body and prevent bad breath and prevents the yellow marks in the grass that their pee can make. - If they get gooey eyes, I use a warm wash cloth or paper towel. Hummmmmmm, that's all I can think of right now. Make sure you have some NutriCal on hand when you get your little one. These small breeds are prone to hypoglocemia in the beginning.

Ditto on both of RLC12345678's posts. I definitely don't believe in feeding Yorkies off the tables (except those that RLC mentioned). Feeding bacon, sausage, pork, lunchmeat, hotdogs, ribs, cheese nips, potatoe chips, sweets, etc. can only lead to problems and you might even find yourself in an emergency room with a life threatening condition called pancreatitis for doing so. At the very least you will end up with a "spoiled" Yorkie who won't eat his dog food so he won't be getting all the vitamins and nutrients he needs. When vaccines are given - never give Lepto or Corona as many Yorkies become very ill (and some have died). Never give a rabies with a booster vaccine, always separate by three weeks.

Thank you for that. I know a lot of people in my house randomly feed my beagle (I swear she has an iron stomach. She ate an entire giant Hershey's Kiss and wasn't affected for even a second), so I'll have to make sure everyone know the firm rule of not feeding it much, or only the said foods.
