| Are crab apples dangerous?? Good morning! Just a quick question for anyone out there who knows a thing or two about plants/trees... On my daily walk with Howie we pass by several trees that I believe are crab apple trees. The little crab apples fall off of the trees and sit on the sidewalk. Every single solitary day Howie tries to grab one of these in his mouth on our way by. Does anyone know if these are harmful to him if he ever manages to scoop one up? Thanks!!

| You may want to remember that the seeds of some fruit is poisonous, even though the fruit itself isn't. I didn't know about crabapple (I know there are many different varieties), but I found that this lists the chewed seeds of crabapple as poisonous: http://hsc.unm.edu/Pharmacy/poison/z...20Plants.shtml This states that crabapple seeds - Major Toxicity: These plants may cause serious illness or death. If ingested, immediately call the Poison Control Center or your doctor. http://www.plantsciences.ucdavis.edu...nt/Tox-SCI.htm
