Thank you D. She's a VERY happy baby. (and spoiled rotton too!)

Tia, you are growing up to be as beautiful as your Mommy. I love the pic of the 2 of them. You should be so proud of her and of yourself, Breny. You pulled off a miracle when you saved your precious Tia. And I can't believe how hard she fought to survive. Great job:thumbup: .

Its so funny that you posted a message today, I just spent the last hour or so reading your posts about Tia from the beginning in July. Its incredible what you've been able to achieve. I heard breeders say that they put down a puppy with cleft palette and look what you did. It is wonderful.

Thank you! It was a long scary road thats for sure, but I made the choice to create her by breeding her mom and I wasn't going to let her go without a fighting chance , thats for sure! I wasn't going to give up and I'd do it all over again. Thank god my vet wasn't the type of vet to want to put her down. He really didn't give too much input, but I knew I wanted to give her a chance to live. And she's living proof that cleft babies can make it ! I'm so proud of Tia. So proud !!!!!!!:)

Her and Zoey look so much alike !!!! Its funny, she had 4 pups and Tia was the only one who looked just like her. She's my angel :) I originally named her Angel but then changed it to Tia :)

But I just wanted to say THANK YOU to you, for all your support !!!!!!

Hi! I quoted this from what I wrote way back in July of 06. Tia is doing GREAT! She's 8 months old now. She still breaths and sounds raspy, but she eats well and she drinks from a water bottle. She likes to stay where she feels safe and is kinda of timid, but she is a complete joy! I can't beleive I saved my baby and I'm sooooo proud !!!!!

I wanted to share an updated picture. I took this today. She's wearing a T shirt sent to me from another YT'er. It still fits her!

Wow that pic is cute!! You can't even tell in that picture that there's anything wrong with her lip.

Actually her lips are normal, its her soft palet that is effected, so to look at her you can not tell that she has this. The only way you can really tell is by listening to the way she snorts :)

Just the sort of people I like to see exist !
You are willing to give these wee ones a chance of life - good on you both !
I am fed up of some of the people on here and their perfect Yorkies "to show standard"....and all others are too small, too big, etc.....all of them are worth having....they are the special ones - PRECIOUS ! :)

I love them all - and I'm glad you think the same !
I know who to come to if any of Tammy and Casper's pups have any problems - day 40 now, and I am cringing !

Well ! I came home tonight and weighed Tia on my puppy scale (she still fits!) and WOW! She weighs 4 lbs 2 oz. She ended up out weighing her brother who weighs 3 lbs 8 oz! Amazing.

I just hope anyone reading this that has a cleft puppy born to them that they will not think its the end, but think of it as a beginning :) Tia is living proof!

So I took some pics of her tonight and wanted to share with you my baby :)

Thanks for all your support!

Oh my goodness. I just "tried" to go back and re-read from the beginning for the 1st time and I couldn't ! I'm holding back crying! It brought back oh so many memories and then seeing her picture back then. Wow it was a long road!

Yorkiesforever 04-04-2007 08:15 PM

Hi,
I'm fairly new to YT, but caught this thread this morning and couldn't tear myself away! I too have a special baby. That's him by the soda can, I would send more pics but can't reduce them on my computer. Rocky was one of six, 4 were "normal" size and two were very very tiny. Unfortunately, I lost the little girl I called "Thumbalina" when she was 6 weeks old, she just couldn't seem to get enuf nutrition to thrive, But ole "Pocket Rocket" was a go getter. I too was up every hour on the hour for 2-3 months giving dextrose and IV fluids under the skin to keep him hydrated. What a job. Feeding him with syringes etc. so I really felt like I knew exactly what you went thru. Today he is 7 months 1 week old and weighs a whopping 2 lbs, 3 ozs. Probably not going to get much bigger, but that's ok cause like TIA he's a ball of energy. I was luckier than you tho, cause I work in a vets office so I was able to take him with me every day which was a big help. To this day he has his little house he sleeps in on my bed, and pity the poor soul who goes near the door of his house when he is in it, he snarls, growls and barks like a pitt bull. That's his castle and nobody better come near. LOL He is still skinny, but guess he will always be that way, as long as he is healthy I can live with it!:)

I am so glad the two of you and your babies are doing so well, and am proud to be a member of the small community of people who really care about their puppies. I have been breeding yorkies for a long time and this is the first time I ever got tinies and hope it doesn't happen again but if it does, I'll do the same thing all over again just like you. ( Tho I swore I would never do it again) just like you!;)

Tia is a little doll, wish I could post a pic of Rocky for you all. Thanks again for the inspirational story and love the happy ending!

My male Casper is very skinny too and weighs 4lbs - he never has put the weight on since I bought him - I think some are just like that, but they really do have amazing personalities, don't they !

Wow what an amazing story. You guys are inspiring people I hope I have to never go through it but if I do, I know I can look to you guys for the inspiration. The best part of this is the babies that are there to give you back the love you gave them... By the way he is a cutey.

OMG Breny

I was just reading this whole thread.......all 20 pages. I was getting ready to do my house work and figured I'd get on YT for a minute (I addicted) and came accross this thread. I could not pull myself away. My Mother raises Chihuahuas and has had 2 or 3 cleft pups. One of them was real bad the whole roof of its mouth was open. The vet would not do surgery till it was at least one pound. I took the pup home with me and had to get a real long nipple bottle and prity much stick it down this puppys throat! But after 7 months the pup was ready for surgery. It did great and surgery was a success. About 3 months after the surgery the pup was eating on his own and drinking normally. I didn't want to part with him as I was soooooo attached but at a fair one day I ment a little boy who was 5 years old and had the same thing. He (the little boy) was getting ready to have another operation the next week and was real sarred. He got so attached to my tyson that I ended up giving him to the boy. It has been 3 years now and both are doing GREAT. The mother will send pics every once in a while. It just brought back ss many memories.

You are such a wonderful person to help TIA. The Lord sure did give you a big heart and tons of strenght to care for this pup! Congrats to you on your success storie. You sure do have something to brag about.

Tiger's Mom 05-14-2007 12:31 PM

OMG, this is such a wonderful story to tell . . you are indeed a great MOM for what you have gone through  Tia is adorable and looking at her recent pictures you cannot even know what she went through when she was little.

I hope she will be at the Fair so I can give her a kiss :animal-pa
