| Newly Adopted Yorkie: eye infection Hello Everyone! Just purchased/adopted a 2nd Yorkie named Nina. She is almost 3.5 years old and weighs just under 3.5 lbs! Shes a little doll, with a fiesty personality, although she has some problems.... -she has an eye infection which I was given Pentamycetin drops by the previous owners to treat. I believe this infection was caused by improper/lack of cleaning around her eyes, build up of "eye goobies" caused the infection. I gave her a bath and a good cleaning around the eyes and it looks much better. My vet said to continue the drops... my question is if anyone else has encountered this issue? How long until the infection is cleared? Any suggestions to cleaning/preventing tear stains? I have had no problems with my other/first yorkie who is a male. -she was diagnosed with minor patella luxation in her right hind leg. I have not seen her do any skips to compensate or shy away from jumping/playing. This issue I think will go untouched, until it causes her pain or to limp which the Vet then suggested surgery be discussed. -she has had 2 litters, most recently in March of this year. Her hair seems to have thinned (as was communicated by me from the previous owner) and she also has darker "roots"-is this due to hormonal imbalances during pregnancy?? It is now going lighter in colour closer to the skin. Her under belly skin is dry and chapped... is there a specific cream anyone would recommend using? I had the idea of the cream called "Utterly Smooth" used on cows chapped utters.... Thanks for your help! Lauren ( Benltey and Nina ) |

| Calendula ointment is a herbal medication that has been successfully used to relieve the itch. Apply a thin coat twice daily to affected areas. Also for the eye area -- try cleaning with a warm tea bag. It really does work The udder cream will also probable do the trick or even some olive oil may help |
