| puppy food vs adult food I have tried Shylah on 3 different puppy foods and she still loves to eat Starsky's adult dog food. She chows it down, like she loves it! Other wise she wont' eat well on her food. I have even added Ceasers moist food or cottage cheese to her food. I even put olive oil (per the vet) to help her dry skin. What should I do? She really needs to eat and I let her eat Starsky's food because I am desparate for her to eat. The vet says she is a social eater and will eat what ever the other dogs eat because she knows the food is okay and they are part of her pack. I can't feed them puppy food, otherwise they will get very fat! Any suggestions?

| If the adult food is a good quality then the only difference is that a puppy needs a little more protein and fat. Add some boiled chicken or those baby chicken sticks to her diet and she should be fine. |

| I'm not sure if you're in the market to change Starsky's food at all - but the Natural Balance brand does not have a puppy food. When I talked to the Natural Balance rep about it, she told me the company believes their food is so well made and great ingredients and they wean puppies right onto their formulas. They don't see a need to make a puppy food, if their regular food is a premium quality. If your babies will eat it, then you would only need to buy one brand of dog food. Just a thought.

| Starsky eats the Nutro Natural Lamb and Rice food. I bought Shylah the Nutro Natural Chicken and Rice puppy food. But she can tell a difference and eats Starskys. For those of you that boil the chicken, Do you use chicken breasts and cook enough to refrigerate and then use a food chopper to mince it? Or what? Is the Nutro Natural the same as Natural Balance? I may have to look into that. Does it come in small bites?

| Okay, I compared the Nutro puppy to the Nutro adult. The only stuff that the Nutro adult does not have that the puppy does is: Oatmeal Zinc Proteinate Manganese Proteinate Garlic Flavor Copper Sulfate Sodium Selenite Other differences: PUPPY ADULT Crude Protein 26% 21% Zinc 240 mg/kg 250 mg/kg Vitamin E 160 IU/kg

| I just boil boneless chicken breasts and remove any fat and skin. White meat, skinless chicken is lower in fat and better for dogs. You can make a bunch at one time and freeze smaller portions and defrost them as you need them. I just shred it with my hands when I give it to them. The only real difference I see is that the puppy might need a little more protein than the adult formula has. I also feed Nutro Ultra Natural products. |

| I would think you'd be okay letting Shylah eat the adult formula. Adding the chicken breasts for a little extra protein is a good idea.
